I think that it's unfair for the team that is capturing the first objective. With proper team-work or a few good players it's manageable but it is very annoying. Although manageable I would like it if it wasn't so one sided for defending team.

I'm against teleporters unless they're absolutely necessary. They sorta break the continuity of the gameplay.

When used as lifts, yes. When used to propel you across the map, no.

Yup. That's the plan, which unfortunately is much easier said than done. I've practically given up on the ODST aesthetic thanks to Breakneck being announced. I want to do a CE aesthetic but there's really nowhere for me to build it. Montana's too small and Alaska has a lot of trees and rocks that'd get in the way of any large structure I place there. The canyon has too many hills and the Island is very awkward to forge on due to the terrain. That leaves a narrow stretch of beach and the quarry, both of which are too small for 6v6 Invasion. I can build it in no time flat; however, the key is always coming up with the right layout.

Many times I finished a map (or at least I thought), only to run out of room for the Elites to spawn in. I think perhaps the most difficult thing about Invasion is getting spawn area down right. If your attackers occupy more than half of the map by phase three, then you probably did something wrong. Then of course you have to worry about the more aggressive players who aren't going to play by the book.

It really is a lot to consider, which is why I still haven't published an Invasion map (or the Invasion guidebook). Once I find somewhere to build on Forgeworld, it should be pretty straight-forward.

Some things I generally dislike about invasion :

1 - How quickly the defenders respawn.

2 - The fact that the defenders have 2 grenades, if any at all to start with (especially frustrating on boneyard)

3 - Not enough precision weapons available near the offense spawn

Can you build part of the map off the edge if one of the Clifftop areas and use Coliseum walls for ground?

That's probably an idea so simple you thought of it and tried or dismissed already.

That's probably an idea so simple you thought of it and tried or dismissed already.


I can do it with the quarry but that means half of the battle will be indoors, which can get very cluttered with 12 players.

Always up for REACH customs!

What I dislike about Bungie's Invasion maps is that the initial phase isn't very exciting. Typically it's just small arms, and the rifles don't come out until the second phase and the vehicles and power weapons don't come out until the third. This makes an Invasion game where both teams shut out the other in the first phase really bland.

I'd like to see an Invasion game that's nonstop action with loadout choices, weapon variety and vehicles from beginning to end.

Also, the first phase should never require excessive walking for the attackers from the spawning zone to where the action is. This slows down the action and enables spawncamping, or the defenders controlling all the long range weapons so the attackers can't even get close. Boneyard is awful in this matter, Spire's not so great either, but Breakpoint has nice pacing, aided by the attackers starting with high ground.

I'd also like more choices of respawn locations, and maybe you can spawn on more than one "bro".

Here's what I'm gonna have for phase 1:

Sprint, AR, Magnum
Sprint, DMR

Evade, Repeater, Plasma Pistol
Evade, NR


This way you can choose to be long range or CQB. Grenade amount is subject to change based on testing (which probably wont happen anytime soon since my forge buddies are never online).

I strongly suggest only 1 nade. Place more nades on the map if necessary, but having two from the start in any part of Reach is ridiculous. maybe have one loadout with two (with Grenade Launcher and Pistol) in the second or third phases.
