I'm not really an Apple person (Bananas forever) but damn, that's kinda sad.

Invasion is like 40% of my games, so I know what's up.

-Defenders need shields protecting their vehicles & "Assets"

-Attackers should win 80% of the time per wave (And the averaging out would make it 50% for the match)

-Give defenders a longer spawn time

-Only 1 grenade per person

-Precision weapons should be pickups in Wave 1, and have a small reserve.

-Hills regenerate to 5, not 7

-Remover Armour Lock/Shotgun class

-Put sword with evade

That's what I got for now.

I like all of your suggestions except for the last one. Sword and Evade is like God Tier in this game. Sword with Camo makes more sense because it happens in firefight.

Spartans are on offense.

Either give both teams the opportunity to grab whichever side's weapons/vehicles or don't give them the chance at all.

Have everything protected and have nothing at all.
Or have side specific equipment protected with neutral stuff in the open.

Sword with evade would suck ass then.

Given that every retard uses the hologram class for the sword, I suppose they'll pick it regardless of AA......

I'd go with AC like you said or maybe Sprint, but that would set up an assload of problems.

It shouldn't be possible for Spartans to get the Banshee (Without Hijacking); the Elites simply have no counter. Banshee, Wraith, Falcon & Scorpion should be safe; Warthog, Ghost & Mongooses should be neutral

Invasion is... A gametype with huge potential that Bungie failed to take advantage of fully.

Goat, I think I might have an Invasion map you'd find interesting. Can't remember where I found it though.

Anyway, for making your own I think it's imperative to make accompanying gametypes. MM loadouts just expose a lot of flaws and could rebalanced a lot better IMO. Making the loadouts different depending on which species is attacking or defending would be a big step to making Invasion more fun.

That's why I'm saying if the banshee can be grabbed by spartans, make the scorpion available for grabs by elites, not have it behind a shield like derpyard does.

If you make the vehicles spawn where they can be grabbed, put them in different places instead of one position along with zones close to those positions. That way the air vehicle(s) on the map will have a harder time destroying all of them before they can "deploy".

This thread looks like it actually going somewhere.

Are these suggestions really helping you out for the final gametype?

They definitely are. But for the moment I've put the CE Invasion on hold and I'm back to working on ODST. Even though Breakneck has the aesthetic I want, it doesn't have the actual ODST city feel, nor does it have the surprises that I've cooked up. And I doubt it has a forge palette, so I may as well make my own version first. It'll be much easier to get testers too now that we're allowed to solicit custom games in the Reach forum.

So in short, this is helping me a lot. But right now the thing I need the most is the perfect layout. 50 iterations later and I'm nearing it, but I still haven't quite gotten it down to an exact science.

With ODST, there are 3 things I have to pay close attention to:

> Budget and Performance
> "Wow" factor and what it does different from others
> Keeping the ODST feeling, which means tall buildings and urban combat in the streets (which unfortunately means building usage is at a minimum.

On the case of the last one, I'm also trying to find ways to add height elevation to the mix. It's a very difficult project, but I'm determined to make it a reality.

See if you can integrate something like this into an initial phase where one "team" of two gets two jetpacks and makes a jump into the first area of play.

That would be awesome to experience but I think it strays too far from matchmaking. They don't allow pick ups on maps unless it's MLG or Classic. Not to mention jetpack would ruin the ODST map, lol.

How about buffering the fall with 1 way shields? There is a speed (just below terminal velocity) that overrides the shields, but strategically placing them along the route down (you could figure out a way of combining both aesthetics and a set route) to buffer the speed of the descent could work as well.

I have a much simpler and cheaper (though not as awesome) way to simulate the drop. Stay tuned ;-)

Bungie's Invasion is very bland and grossly one sided for one team *cough*Spartans*cough*. Pretty bad when one whole half of a map is for one phase.

This. I refuse to play it because of how bad being an elite is.

That's what I'm hoping to change. Being an Elite should make you feel like a badass, not a dumb dino with crappy weapons and a large hitbox.

5. It's also ridiculously slow because walking constitutes as half of the Invasion experience.

1. I'm going to make sure there's an NR class for those who don't want to use the CQB weapons
2. No banshees, and definitely no vehicles spawning that quick
3. I'd love to give Elites DMRs but then they'd just be stronger than Spartans due to extra health
4. Bungie's Invasion just isn't properly balanced
5. Walking is not a problem for my maps ;-)

The 343 forums suck. They're full of retarded kids and mods who got butthurt in the B.net forums for being told that they're bad.

Somebody already brought up the inconsistencies in the game and was acknowledged, so I won't bring up the specific points again. However, I would like to reiterate the importance of consistency for this game.

I also feel that the defenders should have a longer respawn time if they spawn close to the objectives that they are supposed to defend; Team Fortress 2 does that really well, although it is kind of frustrating when it takes too much time to respawn.

And for the love of Christ, if you have the Spartans on defense, do not make a small, tight, cramped base like on Boneryard and give them AL and shotguns. I have no idea how that got through play-testing (however, that could be said for many aspects of this game).
