Subject: Do you prefer high or low post counts in Threads?

This is the way the world ends,
This is the way the world ends,
This is the way the world ends;
Not with a bang but a whimper.

T4R.

When you are browsing the thread list, are you more inclined to post in a thread when there are few or zero posts already in the thread or when the thread is a hot topic or has Bungie members posting in it (which means that if it doesn't have a high post count it soon will).

As for me, I intentionally look for threads with no posts that still have some sort of question in them to be answered. I find that it gets redundant to simply post for the sake of posting when nobody is going to read it as commonly happens in threads above ten or so posts.

A penny for your thoughts?

I won't post in a high post thread if I wasn't a part of near the beginning.

Key

*takes penny*
*gives thoughts*

Ones that are simple "Q -> A" format threads, I tend to ignore longer ones. Discussion threads, big ones are always fun to participate in because you have a greater change of someone replying to you and actually getting into a conversation about the topic at hand as opposed to throwing your opinion into the thread and walking out.

This is why I avoid most big threads. My post tends to be little more than another tick on the post counter.

  • 10.29.2011 6:51 PM PDT

I'm more likely to post in a thread with few replies, that way whatever I am going to say is less likely to have been said numerous times before.

Also true. If I think of some witty remark, someone else probably will too and I'd rather not post it only to be told that someone beat me to the punch on the last page.

If you see this post in your topic I'm sorry to tell you but your topic is dying.

Low, high numbered posts usually have little discussion value.

  • 10.29.2011 6:57 PM PDT

I usually don't notice how many replies a topic has. I only pay attention to what the title is, and sometimes the author of it.

"We live in a special time; the only time where we can observationally verify that we live in a very special time" - Lawrence Krauss.

I was a finalist :P

It doesn't really matter to me. I will move in to a thread that interests me either way, even if it has 1 reply or 1,000 replies.

Didact's Reprisal -
Now is the time of our unworlding
One final effort is all that remains
And I am not afraid
We shall fulfill our promise
We fight for the grace of the Mantle
And this time none of you will be left behind

It's a good thing I caught this topic when it was still on one page.

I'll post when someone hasn't posted what I'm intending to post, because I like to see a discussion flourish with as many different opinions as possible. Cluttering up the thread with duplicate posts which have identical meaning is pointless and annoying, hence why reply count is meaningless.

That's the problem with large threads; it takes too long for me to see if anyone has posted my opinion.

Basically, I make the best topics ever.

Feedback!
Duardo: This thread is locked for being stupid.
cortana 5 : It's perpetually my time of the month and I'm just grouchy.
Foman: I see absolutely no reason, either theoretical or practical, that this is not a superb idea. Excellent work, my friend.

I just make my on topics and respond to there. I'm of the opinion that my topics are always better, so if I have something to add to a discussion I'll just make a new topic with my answer. I find it's the easiest way to make my opinions count.

I do not discriminate.

I aim to please. I mean come on, what do these titles mean if they don't make me better than 75% of the community?

  • 10.29.2011 9:16 PM PDT

I tend to not like the idea that I could possibly be restating a previous post. Due to this, I tend to avoid topics that have a high post count. Every now and then I'll tend to post in one though.

  • 10.29.2011 9:16 PM PDT

high, very high

  • 10.29.2011 9:16 PM PDT

I enjoy being the one of (if not) the first to post. If I just jump in and post or ask a question, it usually gets no recognition.

I also like putting silly comments as one of the first responses.

RIP Halo 2

I find myself more likely to click on threads that have less than two pages of posts because I like reading all of the posts in the threads I post in and I won't really read the posts if the thread has 3+ pages.

To me it doesn't matter because I don't read responses anyway.

There comes a time in every mans life... and that time is not now.

I am much more inclined to post in a thread with less than one page of posts as opposed to one with lots of pages.

You people have just sent my sides into orbit. A bunch of MLG try hards sucking the dick of some supposed pro half the thread hasn't even heard of. Classic.

I just go into a thread and quote whatever employee or mods posted and leave.

I'd quote you more often if you were a mod.
