never buy BFG products, theyre terrible. Theyre poorly made, poorly overclock, and have a short life span. (ive had 3 bfg vid cards and none of them lasted over a year)

OMG, this is the third time, im saying this to you beefy, STOP TALKING LIKE SOME "RAPPING GANGSTER IN SOME HOOD"!!! If there's one thing I hate, it's slang, and ghetto slang users. Gosh.
Ipjuunin, I don't know where you got the impression like he's talking "ghetto slang" but he's not. He just doesn't know how to spell. Or use correct grammar, punctuation, and capitlization. Don't get the two mixed up.

I have a 6800!!! and its better
Why dont you just look at your manual? it says, your new ___ has ___ megabytes of memory, a___MHz microprossesor,a ___mb. (AGP, PCI) graphics controller...
I would take it apart. If you have an AGP, it will work-period.
AGP=advanced graphics port
PCI=perepheral card port
that came straight from the Geek.

most pcs have a PCI, but newer models have PCI Express. if your pc is around a few years old, it uses AGP

Gah! Don't bump!

Anyways, I had my 6600 installed a while ago and it works beautifully. I can run Halo PC at 70 fps!

I have two Ge force 7600's GT's on a SLI 4 mobo that i bought online for 360 bucks or somthing like that, both of em are 256 PCIe's both clocked 530mhz, my PCIe slots are diffrent colors but the best way to know if you have agp is to look at this link

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Accelerated_Graphics_Port

I Also have a stupid bridge contector going between my two card in order to make SLI work, which i find stupid but the enhancement is worth it, no lag 85 fps in halo, runs fear perfectly.

AGP cards suck and tend to be pissy and usually require a Gart driver, and a few setting that you'll have to go through now and then

Oh do not put a PCIe into a PCI slot or the other way around, unless you want an excuse to get a new machine.

Um, a PCI-E card won't even fit in a PCI slot because of more pins in a PCI-E slot (am I right?).

well they're the same and shape except PCIe has a handle latch on the end and is slightly larger, but you know some people never follow instruction and try to force it in. but you can read up on PCIe here

Hey, guys, now that I've installed my GeForce 6600, do you think that my PC can handle Windows Vista's shiny desktop features?

not very but much better than a 5600 see how much RAM it has (its printed on the box) 256 is great anything over that is excellant and under... you need an upgrade.
i prefer Radeon thay are better made and have better support...and warranties. as i remember
Geforce 6600 is not 256. o would get a 6800 or better if possable but it does work.
as i said before, look at your computers manual, if there is an "upgrades" section look there
and it will say wether or not you have an AGP slot. most new computers do. I would just take it apart you have to to put it in anyways.

yes you (joe98200) are right. but pci stands for peripheral card (card is most widly used but not exact) interface.
not Advanced Graphics Port

All but the shiniest, it will handle. None of the current cards out there are rated for DX10 cuz well its not out yet, and won't be until Vista is released. That is why I'm holding off getting a vid card until Vista comes out. I'm not sure if the 6600 will be able to handle the "Aeroglass" stuff or not.

Notice how direct x only adds a few new features on each version, but still manages to force every 1 to upgrade. 1 thing that i find extremly ghey about windows vista is the fac t that it wont be compadible with direct x 8 and under, and will only be able to emulate 9

I also have a 6600 and it's a 512MB. Not sure if it can handle Vista. It can already handle Oblivion and F.E.A.R.

OMG everyone is overestimating vista. Your computer doesnt have to be a god damn super computer to handle it. If you can run xp fine, you'll be able to run vista. Its not like its a 3d game or anything that uses insane pixel shaders and stuff.

Ok basically if your computer runs halo well (on midrange settings with like 30+fps), then it can run vista. Also just incase everyone forgot you can change the effects, just like you can on xp, so it wont be as nice looking.
