Subject: Do BTB teams actually show mercy (under certain circumstances)?

chances are I don't care who you are or what you say.

If I see friends on the other team we either let them chill with us while we spawn kill the others or we end the game fast. otherwise if you and your team is bad enough to get spawn killed all game, that is how it is :/

I treat everyone as if they have the potential to be one of my friends playing on an alt. I give the benefit of the doubt, forgive betrayals, say "good game" if my mike is plugged in, and generally conduct myself in a respectful manner. Despite the fact that I'm somewhat anonymous and would face no repercussions 99% of the time if I chose to act otherwise.

Edit: I even keep my teabagging as tasteful as possible - generally only after a triple+ kill and at the end of a game where I have 20+ points.

I play Halo for a challenge, when the MM system feels up to giving me one. When it pukes out anything less, I end it as quickly as possible and try again. I'm here for some solid gameplay - not stomping on new kids and their guests.

I wish more people felt this way. It's a game, which means it should be fun for everyone, even people who aren't very good, don't have friends they can play with, or get screwed because some of their teammates quit.

I will always remember a game of Team Rockets I played in Halo 3 once where it was just me against four people. I lost, of course, but they were obviously taking it easy on me and even let me have the lead for part of the game. They still won, but I got to have a lot of fun, which wouldn't have been the case had they spent the entire game killing me.

We need more people like that.

Welcome to the internet. Joy dies here.

I've actually made friends playing on live - randoms on my team perform well or at least make decent team mates (watching your back etc) I'll stay in the party and see how the next game goes. If it goes as well, I'll usually send a FR. I've even partied up with opponents because I liked their play style.

I think the difference is some people go online to get away from humanity, while others go on to connect with it. Same reason people troll on here instead of being helpful. They're frustrated about something in their real life, so they grief on here (or on MM) to try to make themselves feel better. It's the "I got pushed around, so now I'll go bully someone else to fix it" mentality. Just another example of why our species is in the toilet.

The 343 forums suck. They're full of retarded kids and mods who got butthurt in the B.net forums for being told that they're bad.

Good for you, you retain morals whilst on the internet.

Most people will use the opportunity of anonymity to vent their frustrations with real life onto people that can't/won't/don't fight back. And there is absolutely nothing wrong with that.

Nothing wrong with letting yourself go, but you should have the decency to acknowledge that you're abusing the system. Trying to pass stat-padding off as legit gameplay is like claiming you're an expert marksman because you have managed to shoot so many fish in a barrel. If spawn-camping is skillful, then I'm a firefight genius despite the fact that I was invincible and had 300% damage on.

We play for fun. For us, trying to get high stats while spawn-trapping a bunch of faceless randoms is fun. We don't do it necessarily to be jerks (unless they talked trash at the start, in which case you're being held on, hard), we do it because that's how we enjoy the game. We can't get an even game, so we make do with what we have.

Now see, you should only say "good game" if it was actually a good game. Otherwise you just rub it in even more.

Exactly. I remember only saying GG to I think one team in a game over the past week, and they were a full party and played pretty well.

Which is why I said "Usually". I do have some close games, but that's few and far between.

I've never said GG in Reach, and I doubt I ever will.

Understandable.

I've said it FAR MORE time in Halo 3 than in this game, that's for sure.

OMFG DOOD MY SCHOOL HAS 4000 KIDS AND LIKE 50% ARE BLACK, THEY ALL DO THIS ITS SO FKN ANOOYING. IT MAKES ME WANT TO PUNCH THEM IN THE FACE BUT IM AFRAID CUZ THEY'RE BLACK.

First in social ranked firefight campaign competitive and ODST goose splatters.
My other account is UrbanTwisticle
20,000+ total matchmade goose splatters

Check out my YouTube Channel

A few of the full teams I have run across recognize me from here. I have driven a couple of enemies when I have gone up against Spirit Bombs teams but he always kills me every chance he gets regardless of betrayals or whatnot.

I have found that once most of my team has quit full teams that recognize me finish the game and ones that don't keep holding the objective. Full teams don't bother me; I almost always say good game after getting destroyed.

Yeah, that would be because you are only searching in social slayer now. If you want more close games go play arena.

I doubt it would matter though since the population count is so low.

Goat was famous. Irie was infamous. Gh0st was FaMaS.

My stats in Halol 4

Typical Waypoint post.
no it's "its got to go" you wouldn't say the "it is got to go" would you?

Yes.

Of course, that usually leads to them attacking and then getting graped by 8 DMRs.

  • 10.30.2011 4:42 PM PDT

Here is a scenario

You are playing an objective game type in btb and right off the bat, half your team quits, so you are like damn. The other team not only can overwhelm you with fire power.

The merciful thing to do is to get the game over with and not spawn trap the -blam!- out of them

Aren't you that kid who tried to hold on me back in TO and then failed miserably, going -17 or something?

So basically... Waypoint is pro-vanilla?

Posted by: Sentox6
Waypoint isn't pro-anything so much as they're just anti-intelligence.

Yeah. if there are <4 players left on the enemy team, we'll end the game. If we're matched up against friends, we'll (try) to end the game.

  • 10.30.2011 5:20 PM PDT

lol majority of Reach players are stat paddlers.

I've shown mercy plenty of times. Once in Invasion Spire (lol) everybody on the Spartan team had left leaving only one high ranked player. I ran (evaded) to his spawn and just sat there dodging his fire. Once he noticed I wasn't firing back he stopped and we started dancing. Then the rest of my team tried to throw grenades and I jumped on them as a betrayel warning. Once they wised up we all just sat there dancing on his spawn. We followed him as he tried to scoe the Objective (we already captured the core, you pretty much can't score the core on Spire) but one of my team mates who wanted to pad his stats started firing at him and just took all our Plasma Pistol bolts up the rear.

Thats not mercy, it's due to ending it quickly cause of boredom. 9 times out of 10 a team will vote Obj in BTB against randoms simply cause in slayer theres always that one random that wont quit and you're stuck playing 15min game finding and killing 1 guy. In Obj you can either end it quick or spawn kill and if they quit then it wont last long.

Do you know what suck the heads means? Cause I came down ehre with my buddy Keith once, and he didn't know! And...it ain't nothin' bad, it's about eatin'.

I won't lie. i have sympathy for the enemy team many times. i actually let an enemy get in my Hog and shoot down my teammates because he was the last man on his team.
