Subject: Making it to Bungie.

I'm sure that many people have pm'd Bungie employees and created threads about how to get a job in the video game industry, or more specifically, how to get a job at Bungie. It's only understandable that those looking to do what they love attempt to be a part of the company that has been the subject of their admiration and awe. It's equatable to a young Packers fan dreaming of growing up to be the next great Packer quarterback. So obviously any advice or tips concerning how to achieve this dream (I am now referring to making it to Bungie, not the Packers :)) would be a great deal of interest to many people.

So I am getting nearer and nearer to graduating high school, and I am, along with everyone else my age, looking at different colleges that I would like to attend in order to make the rest of my life super awesome. As someone that does want to make it into the game industry, and if possible, Bungie, I want the university I attend to help me realize those goals. One of the colleges I am looking at is the University of Washington in Seattle. Would going to college in the same general area that Bungie, Microsoft, Nintendo, etc. operate give me an upper hand to making it in the game industry? Or should that not affect my decision? I was also wondering if any of those companies were involved in any way with the Computer Science department at UWash or just UWash in general. This is a big deal for me because I don't live anywhere near the state of Washington and while I would still be open to the idea of going to Washington if the answer to the above questions is no, the draw would be slightly less.

I would appreciate any advice or insight. Thanks!

Keep doing what you are doing. You got to really love what you are doing cause College is a lot of money and it is getting harder and harder to get in the industry. Start off with getting some Computer Science degree and think about it a bit more.

Depends on what you're going for. Learning video game design in Seattle doesn't necessarily mean your degree is "better". However, you can rub shoulders with guys from Bungie, Microsoft, and all the other "big boys" out there. An internship, assuming you know what you're doing, wouldn't be too hard to get.

That, and assuming the job market works itself out.

The Renaissance Man; The Bigger Fool.

If you camp out in front of their office every weekend they'll hire you eventually. Probably.
