Subject: If you could change any event that occurs in Halo, what would it be?

Vengeance only leads to an ongoing cycle of hatred.

The Halo: Reach campaign and Keyes dying from Guilty Spark.

In memory of those fallen in the defense of Earth and her colonies.

March 3, 2553

Reach. Get rid of the game completely and all traces of its horrible canon.

the part where people make books that completely change our age old view of the forerunners being the noble race that predated every other intelligent race and that the flood was extra galactic in origin.

Er... the only think that Cryptum changed were your preconceptions, there has never been any evidence saying they were noble other than the Covenant (and guess what, the Covenant religion was a LIE).

This man speaks the truth.

THe forerunners were jerks.

no one thought that before Cryptum.

before we all thought that they sacrificed themselves to save the universe.

By the power of truth, I, while living, have conquered the universe.

The Reformists never boarded the Keyship and fled Janjur Qom. As a result, no San'Shyuum-Sangheili war, no Covenant, no human-Covenant war.

Would be interesting to see how things developed there.

Because we knew nothing about the Forerunners...

before we all thought that they sacrificed themselves to save the galaxy.

Er... we were never told that the Forerunners died, only Cortana makes that assumption in origins.

It has been implied since IRIS that the forerunners were still alive and watching us. This was then confirmed in halo 3 and the encyclopedia.

umm, and in halo 2 343 guilty spark says "they, and all additional sentient life, within 3 radii of the galactic center, died, as planned"

are we forgetting that the games had cannon before the books did?

lol.

First off it is canon are you forgetting that adding an extra "n" changes the meaning?

When 343 took over they said they got disorganized sheets of paper that had halo lore on them. That was the "Halo Bible" Bungie was hiding behind all of those years. They also said they had to talk to bungie, write down their views on canon, organize it and put it into a binder as a guide.

Thus Bungie "canon" was nonexistant something many of us regulars expected because Halo was meant to be a one time deal.

Anyways the past canon is no longer relevant and as i told you before we have 3 sources (halo 3 itself) that the forerunners did not die out. Even in halo 3 343 tells you that the forerunners did not tell him everything in case he was captured by the flood.

You don't seem to understand what you hear.

"They, and all additional sentient life, within 3 radii of the galactic center, died, as planned."

Let me think, what could possibly make this statement void? Shield Worlds? Cryptums? The Ark?

Also, monitors are compartmentalised, their knowledge is very much limited to their Installations, as Spark reveals in Halo 3.

are we forgetting that the games had cannon before the books did?

This is completely irrelevant. Game canon takes priority over the novels when (and only when) there's an inconsistency, in this case there is none.

I know what you mean. The Forerunners almost seem kind of lame now, rather than the mysterious, all-powerful, ancient race you would think of them as before.

Keyes dying from Guilty Spark.

Jacob Keyes died as part if a proto-Gravemind in Halo 1.
Miranda Keyes was shot by the Prophet of Truth.
Johnson was killed by Guilty Spark.

"I like knowing the space between my ears is immeasurable."

I'd take out pretty much all of it after halo one.
The story went to -blam!- right there.

I'm kind of excited for halo 4 though, maybe they're on the right track again. :)

Horrible canon? It helped clear up so many patches we didn't even know about!

Halo: Reach, Enough said.

Or at-least keep Halo: Reach but fix the canon flaws which bungie/343 have denied.

They'll just fall short of your expectations and you'll complain for months.

Err... then the elites (from never recovering MB) would never meet humans and either

A)Discover halo by chance, release the flood, and everybody
dies

or

B)Never discover halo and remain in a stagnate state.

A good Spartan is felt, not heard.

My death! And The Death of Miranda Keyes and Avery Johnson.

  • 11.01.2011 8:09 PM PDT

Glory and fame, blood is our name!
Souls full of thunder, hearts of steel!
Killers of men, a warrior's friend!
Sworn to avenge our fallen brothers!
Sons of the gods, today we shall die.
Open Valhalla's door!
Let the battle begin, with swords in the wind! Hail Gods of War!

Chief made it back to Earth in Halo 3. Maybe have humanity discover the Legendary Planet at a later time.

  • 11.01.2011 9:03 PM PDT

I'm insane and I know it. That's what I like about myself.

In H3, instead of Halo being able to fire in a few more days, it was just a few more minutes. We would either have an endurance scenario or a boss battle with the Gravemind (which would've been epic) and Sgt. Johnson wouldn't of gotten killed out of the blue.
DAMMIT SPARK, WHY DID YOU GO WITH PROTOCOL?!
