We are all going to get banned aren't we?

That will be acceptable if we are talking about technology from "the first" humans and forerunners or something precursor or ancient evil related.

I also agree with this. Although I'm enjoying Glasslands so far in terms of how it's written etc, the whole Spartan IV program, random new Spartans and forerunner tech on human ships is just plain stupid. In my opinion, Cryptum was plain terrible, it was poorly written and boring to read and I didn't really like the idea that the humans were once just as powerful as the Forerunners.

I really disliked the notion that humans were once as powerful as Forerunners. I personally think that was a cliched, predictable piece of writing that just doesn't sound compelling. I much prefer the idea that life throughout the universe is diverse and robust enough to allow new dominant species to arise regardless of Covenant, Forerunners etc. I really thought that was what Bungie were suggesting with the Halo 3 terminals, when the Librarian found Earth.

I'm more inclined to pick up Glasslands after reading that interview....I'm maybe starting to understand the context of the book. I can understand what Traviss is trying to get across in this book, and strangely, it's Red vs Blue that gives me the quote to summarise what Traviss may have been hinting at.

Look, I know you are only good for sucking 343i's dick and defending them from anything resembling criticism, that's what fanboys like you do

"Universe Forum: where opinions go to die."

He's free to have an opinion, but when every other post he makes here and on Waypoint is how we at the Universe Forum suck or e aren't smart enough to comprehend Glasslands or we all hate Halo, then he just starts to become a fanboy who will criticize anyone with a negative option.

Do us all a favor and actually read these posts and erickyboo's on Waypoint. You might learn something.

They contribute nothing of any real substance. All they consist of is ad hominem and ad nauseum, and dismissing claims given with evidence with no evidence.

You guys shouldn't get so worked up about this. It's just one approach to life post-war. This isn't all that's going on after the events of Halo 3, it's just one side of the cube.

We can get mad at Reach, why not this? It is all opinions after all.
The problem here is that the other sides of the cube are poorly shown, and occasionally appear non-existent.

Humanity does not know how weak the Sangheili are. In fact, I wouldn't blame Parangosky for keeping a guard up against a race that has been ruthlessly slaughtering your people for three decades, and then at the last moment, decide to help you out, mainly because they want revenge on the San Sh'yum. Why not send the Sangheili into their own little wawr, allowing humanity to rebuild and become the dominant power.

I'm one of those storm chasers that will never have a TV show because I don't scream at clouds.

Bummer, I was hoping for a new Imperial Commando novel, but it doesn't sound like she has any plans for one in 2012. I never really got into the Gears stuff, but I like Traviss as an author. Oh well.

What you thought was indeed what Bungie was suggesting with the terminals. Cryptum events are a mere entry from 343i; which is why there is change in perception.

Or most complainers have a really slow mind or something that explains it.

Gee, how could anybody not understand what you're saying. And there are plenty more here and on Waypoint.

Get mad at Reach because it tramples over established canon and took some pretty far-fetched explanations to explain some of the inconsistencies.

I'm sure all the good post-Halo 3 stuff is being saved for Halo 4; this is just a scene-setter, really.

Reach does make some large canon errors, but I choose to overlook some of them because I enjoyed the gameplay. I do not disagree with any point that Caboose brought up, but if you use a fine enough comb you can find holes and inconsistencies everywhere.

And why save all the good stuff for Halo 4? Why not spread out the awesome and amazing evenly? I would much rather prefer several great things instead of several sub-par things and one excellent thing.
If this is to be a scene-setter and help explain the events of Halo 4 lots of people who have not read the books will be confused. If Telcam's faction shows up preaching fire and brimstone all the people who played only the games will be confused because, lets face it, Halo 3 ended on an optimistic note for Human-Elite relations.

With Ad Hominem and Ad Nauseum stacked against you, I'd suggest you to give it up. You have no any arguments left to argue against anybody here.

TL:DR

Halo: Glasslands sucks. End of story. Great Schism became insignificant, SPARTAN-IVs, secret projects, etc? Also UNSC recovering unrealistic speeds? Wut? Also ONI trying to destabilize the Elites that whom just saved Humanity from brink of extinction? Sounds like Karen Traviss's style of writing and seems she never bothered to research on Halo universe.

Or you know, not drive fans away possibly with the books and make them far less likely to even look at halo 4 (I know some who are like that, they don't have ANY hopes for halo 4 after hearing about glasslands).

More like "OMG random sudden hate of Halsey by everybody including Mendez who should hate himself far far more then Halsey if anything."

Seriously, him just "suddenly" hating his involvement in the Spartan project is bad, especially after four separate groups. It'd make more sense after the S2's. Even then, he hates her cause she made sure that the candidates would most likely survive the augmentations (aka strictness)? Yeah... character development that makes no sense.
