Some things in this World you just can't explain; but that doesn't mean they are any less true, just that you have to chose to believe in them.

Okie Dokie Lokie, lets get started on a wee little problem I have.

I got a new Laptop (I know a damn Laptop, shame on me) and it's specs are incredible, well, compared to mt old computer at least, but here's something I don't get.

Minimum system requirements for Halo 2 VISTA
--------------------------------------------
Operating system Windows 7 or Windows Vista
Computer processor 2.0 gigahertz (GHz)
Memory 1 gigabyte (GB) or random access memory (RAM)
Hard disk space 7 GB of available hard disk space. The dedicated server and the map editor require more hard disk space.
Video card ATI X700 or Nvidia 6100 display adapter with 128 megabytes (MB) of RAM and the following features:
Pixel shader: 2 or greater
Vertex shader: 2 or greater
Windows Experience Index scores:
Graphics score: 3 or greater
Gaming graphic score: 3 or greater
DVD drive 32x speed
Sound Sound card, speakers, or headset
Supported controls Keyboard and mouse or compatible game controller (Xbox 360 Controller for Windows)
Internet connection for online play Network adapter for LAN multiplayer gameplay
--------------------------------------------

If those are at or above the system requirements, then why can't I play the game smoothly?

I have it set to 640X480 screen resolution, I have it set to run as the Admin at all times, I have the graphics set to lowest possible, I have my graphics card set to run for performance instead of quality, I have the most recent Drivers for everything on it.

Why can't it run smoothly?

Tried GameBooster, tried adjusting my Anti-Virus, and I adjusted my computer for the maximum performance possible. I had it set to compatibility with Windows Vista Service pack 2, but it made no difference.

So anyone know of a performance Patch or something?

I'm Incan, it's what most people call me. There is no quote here if you were looking for that. Currently I feel sick.

Windows 7 is the problem because it was not made when Halo 1 was made so there is some problems.

This is Halo 2 Vista though, not CE.

Matter a fact, people say Halo 2 Vista runs better on 7 then it does on actual windows Vista.

There is still a small problem but its simple to fix, right click, properties, compatibility windows vista pack 2 then run it.

Yes, I am a hypocrite, and I'm sorry. I really do mean well, but I'm not running on all cylinders.

Everytime someone buys a copy of Halo 2 Vista, a puppy dies.

Recently while I was playing a game with PCSX2 I noticed it dragged a little in some places. My computer is several times faster than a PS2 in every regard, but emulating the PS2 is a lot of computation. I get the same effect from playing Halo 2 Vista. Coincidence?

As far as suggestions, being above the system requirements doesn't always equal smooth performance. Sometimes even the "recommended" hardware is less than optimal. Try disabling every little visual enhancement you can, such as multisampling and anisotropic filtering. The game seems to disable vertical sync by default, which is good in your case, because that's more work for both the graphics hardware and the CPU.

"I will show you how a true Prussian officer fights!"

"And i will show you where the iron crosses grow..."

- "Cross of Iron"

Its probably because you actually don't have a graphics card. Your running an "Mobile Intel(R) 4 Series Express Chipset Family" that isn't designed for gaming. That is just a media chip that lets you play DVDs and stuff like that effectively. So your kinda out of luck.

Now, correct me if im wrong but I only saw an intel graphics card? If that's the case, there's nothing anyone can do to help you. Integrated intel graphics card = rubbish, regardless of specs.

The rule of thumb for emulation is if your computer is at least ten times more powerful, you can emulate it. Of course you can turn off sound, and use speedhacks to achieve the desired effect, but I think the only connection is that PCSX2 and Halo 2 Vista are both badly optimized.

Yeah. That's right. I don't have a 50 in H3. I never got Onyx in Reach. If a game sucks too much, I won't even bother trying for such trivial "accolades". Besides, I've done way more things that take far more skill and talent than anything that can be done in a video game.

Since nobody else is giving a short, straight answer, I will.

Your computer sucks, and the game isn't very well optimized. That's why it's running like crap.

The bungie.net community is the halo PC community that is renowned for being unbelieveably sucky.

Game isn't well optimized is an understatement.

So badly optimised that if H2X was emulated, it would be a better choice performance-wise.
