RC Clone is the anti-thesis of a lurker.

I have the horrible habit of (either at the beginning or end of an encounter) locking my aim on the empty space next to an enemy's head, when I'm trying to shoot at them with my precision weapons. This problem has slowly been diminishing since I moved to console Halo in 2007, but it is still a problem I have been having.

Any advice for eliminating this habit completely?

chances are I don't care who you are or what you say.

aim using your strafe and your left thumbstick more than your right thumbstick

it doesn't help that your face is a talking bomb too.

Put a cheerio in the middle of the screen. Eventually you'll get so pissed and shoot at it, which will correct your aim.

I would like some advice that's better than hope bloom blesses me and pulls for a headshot I'm not aiming for.

as I said, master your strafe and your aim will get much better. use the strafe to help you aim, it is what just about every good player does

This. It's all you can hope for. There's no such thing as bullet magnetism for precision weapons. It only happens with automatics. (Don't argue: If there WAS BM for all weapons then DMR shots would be terribly consistant.)

You can only hope at that point. Bloom is too luck based and even on the 2nd shot you can only hope that it lands. I'm hating bloom more and more everyday for saving people that should've died multiple shots before.

Halo isn't only about 1v1 situations...aiming is. Take a little extra time on the headshot when their shields are down, it really helps. Strafing helps, but in Reach it is almost a thing of the past, thanks to the low movement speeds.

there is bullet magnetism, that is why spamming is so effective. if there wasn't, then every time you shot an un-bloomed DMR the bullet would only go to that one spot. but if red, the bullet will hit them regardless of whether the reticle was on the edge of the body or centered.

strafing doesn't work as well for dodging, still helps just as much for aiming, especially if you play MLG with a higher movement speed.

No, I'm not agreeing, because I've had plenty of times where the reticle is red, damn-near centered, and still miss because of bloom at probably 2x Sword-lunge distance.

Proof that bullet magnetism is non-existant in precision weapons. Did you see? Red reticle, centered, bloom effs is up.

His reticle was not fully reset. Magnetism works best with a fully reset reticle. Bloom works to negate magnetism. It isn't a perfect system, it is very hard to explain plus that could also be simple failure on the bullet registration (unless it was on LAN)

That's just garbage is what it is. Bloom is terrible. Once the Anniversary playlists are live, the community will be split by fans of Reach and the true fans of Halo.

Bloom is not that bad and doesn't separate Halo fans from Reach fans

Nobody has 100% accuracy. You're not going to land your first shot every time and will have to deal with bloom to get that headshot.

If you do manage to kill someone then you've got to deal with bloom to kill the next guy anyway.

I'm not talking about just missing a few shots. I'm talking about literally having my aim subconsciously stuck on the space next to an enemy. I aim well during that time. It's just good aim at a useless spot to be aiming at.

If you're aiming for the head and you're following the empty space next to it then you don't have good aim. SWAT forces you to aim for the head and if you're having problems with that then that's the best playlist for you.

I'm sorry. Not good, accurate.

I refuse to play SWAT based on how bad it is.

Thanks for the advice, though.
