I'm assembling an Elite army right now (and I've figured out how to get more than 3 waves: kill some Elites then go to Tartarus) and I've got 3 developing units: spec ops sharpshooters, sword centurions, and sniper specialists.

IMO, a whole army of sword elites would be awesome. It would be like the movie 300 remade into Halo. Except they wouldn't be yelling "for sparta"...

I wish I had revisited this thread sooner because the game's already at the breaking point (not really but the particles (i.e. plasma shot impact) are disappearing and I have to melee dead bodies off the level and get rid of the weapons to restore it). But ok, sword it is. I'll just keep the beam rifle Elites.

Edit:

Ok, I got nearly all of them armed. I forgot about the Councilors pulling out swords when stuck with a grenade.

Ok I'm ready. About 27 sword Elites (I would get more but Tartarus might disappear). Now I need to know one thing.

Should I give Rtas Vadum the Wraith or a sword?

Wraith, but show him getting in. Otherwise a sword is OK.

The result of my hard work. I couldn't be more disappointed.

Now I know it's crucial to stop Johnson from going to the ledge before doing anything else. This time, all the Elites made it to Tartarus' platform. So what's the problem?

Well first of all, I panicked many times. I had spent 4 hours and 53 minutes on all this and then some weird movement controls hijacking thing happened and I almost ran off the platform (I wasn't trying to) before I could begin. Maybe it's because I jumped a lot? I often find myself hovering if I jump a lot. Or because I had too many AI? Or it's caused by lag yet I didn't experience any? Or it's just my computer.

Anyways, it was horrifying.

The next problem was getting the Elites to fight Tartarus. Sure they all jumped off successfully but most were grouped at the landing zone and the remaining ones were unwilling to charge. Perhaps the near-overload of the game fried their brains?

I also had to deal with the infinitely spawning AI that I didn't block (I lost one banshee earlier so I only had 2). They're the reason why the particles didn't appear (without them, the particles would have appeared although barely). The game was at it's limit for displaying effects. :(

I also had to deal with tracking all the Elites and getting the fight and so on. It would have been much, much more easier if Halo 2 had Theater mode. Then I could work without losing track of Tartarus.

Then there's Sputnik. It makes moving AI and scenery easier but at the cost of an entertaining battle.

Finally, Johnson. If that son of a -blam!- wasn't there, I could have taken my time moving the Elites to Tartarus.

So much time wasted and too much work! >:(

So I have learned to turn off Sputnik and deal with Johnson before attempting this. Catch skull might be a good idea though since Councilors take out swords when stuck. I'm also thinking about modding to deal with the camera and such (without the need to turn on Blind skull). First person banshee perhaps.

I was unsure if he would be the one to get in because there were too many Elites nearby. Besides, it wouldn't look realistic if the Elites charged leaderless. That Councilor on his right is supposed to be their commanding officer, second in command. :P

Also, I should have gotten out of the Banshee after pushing Tartarus into the grav lift and then I could stand in front of them and watch them jump off without the hassle of worrying about diving into the death barrier with the Banshee.
