I think its the maps, I mean you know there is a problem when every other game your playing on a gray bungie created forge map originally meant to show of the new forge not be played over and over. The maps do really get dull quickly, and none seem to feel anything like the comfortably balanced halo 3 maps

There was a time that the pieces fit, but I watched them fall away. Mildewed and smoldering, strangled by our coveting. I've done the math enough to know the dangers of our second guessing. Doomed to crumble unless we grow, and strengthen our communication.

Even the non-forge maps in this game suck imo. Boring and unbalanced.

I agree that the current set of maps to choose from in any MM, needs to be serious looked at and revamped, like yesterday.

From Slayer to BTB, the whole lot needs to be updated, rotated, and changed out.

YES...we have new maps coming with CEA, and it will be in a separate playlist, and we will still have the same old crap and forge maps to choose from.

Yes, REACH is lacking in maps.

Halo CEA should fix this, as the maps all look great. But they are still lacking Invasion Maps.

Out of all the Halo games, I beleive Halo 2, had the best selection of maps.

Halo 3 DLC maps were brilliant.

Yep! DLC Maps also! I played Anchor 9 today in Team Slayer! Respawned twice on the 0 gravity part of the map right at the edge of the map! You take one step backwards and you fall off the map!

For me, map quality is half of it. Halo 2 was the last game in the series to have an overall great selection of maps; Halo 3 and Reach both have sub-par maps in comparison.

But the pace of gameplay is the other half. Halo 1 and 2 were fast paced and fun. Halo 3 and Reach are slower paced in comparison; matches just seem to drag on forever and killing people seems to be a chore. In Halo 1 & 2, a majority of CTF games tended to finish around 5 minutes for me. That isn't true for 3 & Reach.

Armour abilities made vehicles less likely to be in the map developing process, and forced new pathways to be made in compensation for different play-styles.

Driving the mongoose around maps like sandtrap with a friend on your back made it fun.
Sprinting around it makes it feel a lot less fun and more "Isolated".

I blame this in particular.

Feel free to disagree or fix my grammar.

The grenades would be fine if the maps and movement speed were fixed, so I don't think that really counts.

The slower movement gave birth to Armor Lock.

Or (this is edited for more preciseness)

AL = slower movement speed + higher grenade splash + No bleed through.

Its the competitive edge and the lack of incentive to win. Players aren't forced to win games to rank up like in Halo 2/3. So naturally Halo Reach isn't nearly as competitive as prior Halo games.

Just makes the game dull IMO.

Also true, however, I DO play to win.

If my teammates leave I still play...
And try my best to either win or make them mad.

In the end though, I rather waste their time giving them a good fight rather than quit.

Coagulation would have been a much better option for a blood gulch remake.

IMO all the Halo 2 forged maps, they should have just been actual remakes.

Can I have a pursuit warthog? (red&blue flashing lights, siren, black and white paint job, gull-wing doors, no turret but a truckbed cap where the turret assembly should be, and the ability to arrest players :)

A police falcon would be great as well... (Black&white paint job, flashing red & blue lights on the wing struts and tail, no turrets and doors that open and close similar to the republic gunships in Star Wars. Kick... Ass.)

Police pelican would be cool too!!!

The real problem? No forklifts in forge. THAT'S a turn off...

For me, it's the community.

A lot of games today are ruined by the people who play them. I had countless of hours of fun on Halo 2 and 3, Battlefield Bad Company 1 and 2, and even in Call of Duty 4.

I was the FPS guy a few years ago, but now I am turning toward RPGs just to avoid the greif from players online.

That's actually really sad. I'm a proud member of the community, but I've been off because I thought they shut down the forums...

Anyways, a good way to get you FPS back on is by just trying to enjoy Halo. No joke, custom games are what make Halo better (imo) than every other game...

I think they should integrate a lot more of the better community made maps. I also think that they should include more maps like the halo ball but a different version. One I came across was Trojan horse/ game type and map variant, it was epic and it work!
