Very possible for a number of reasons. I used to play on a 22" flat which is when I was best, I've upgraded to a 32" because it was cheap and my old tv was dying. Many larger tv's have a significant input delay (the difference in time between you moving your thumbstick and the tv showing your action). I didn't notice it for a while, I was playing blops at this time (its terrible, I know) and my weekly k/d went down from about 2.0 to 1.3 or so and I couldn't figure out why until it suddenly hit me. I've messed about with the setting and changed it to a gaming mode which reduces it alot to a playable state so I do better now, but not like on my old 22".
It could also be that its easier to mentally process all of the information on a smaller tv
