Subject: TV size making a difference?

I play on a 37" but prefer the 27" tube.

27" for the win. Its the perfect balance of big and small. I do seem to play better on my own LCD. Could very well be psychosomatic though, who knows.

I must of gotten used to my 52" or something.

Some of you are talking about smaller TVs being better .... when my girl and I go split screen I can't see -blam!-, especially in SWAT. It -blam!- sucks.

I still play on a 27" CRT Sony that I bought in 2003. Weighs about 150 lbs. though. It's amazing the difference between it and HD TV's.

Welcome to the internet. Joy dies here.

Most preferred setup:
20"-22" Monitor with HDMI or VGA inputs

^This - I've had a much easier time since I switched from my 40" LCD TV to my 19" monitor with the VGA cable.

Bingo. I do OK on my 24" flat, but when me and WFjr split screen I can't see the little details

Get an ASUS VH236H. It's perfect for Xbox and PC. Has every port you need. It's also a hell of a value.

Even better would be to get a used CRT that is in good shape. No input lag whatsoever. That might ruin you for events though, as they don't use CRTs, but they should. :D

Agreed. All the changes are good and add variety. Do we really want another Halo 3? Just running around with one gun and no armor abilities? It's good that 343 wants to try something new. Do we really want the same thing for three more games?

Nope. I, and a lot of other people play a lot better on a smaller T.V.

Unfortunately for the moment, I'm stuck with a 1997 Phillips 48" cube T.V. that has terrible quality.

Been on the forums since July 2008.

If you're reading this, I'm probably better than you in Halo 3 and Halo: Reach.

I've been known to wreck a randy or two on my 15" Magnavox LCD Flat Panel TV.

I play on a 40" with some input lag. Kinda frustrating at times...

Hm. I do better with my 32-incher. Heheheheheh. Anyway... I mean, split-screen is tougher, but overall, I have an easier time with playing. Come to think of it, sitting really close to my little old tube used to give me horrible headaches... maybe that's it. Maybe the big LCD's better on my eyes.

Depends, where you gaming on a LED/LCD screen before because those have HIGH input lag unless you get rid of true motion and set your input label to PC

EDIT: Who here has a LG LCD/LED TV?

Life is a journey, if you spend all of it with your nose in your map, you may miss some of the best parts.

Name's John. I'm a 21-year-old firefighter/EMT from lolhio who doubles as a die-hard Halo fan. I've been enjoying the franchise since 2001. My favorite iteration of Halo would have to be Halo 2 simply because I never got to experience the joy of a full-on Halo: CE LAN.

If you have any other questions, feel free to ask.

Oh yeah, and boot Zome.

TVs have a ton of variables that can dictate one's performance (especially in fighting games).

My TV blows. It's hardly HD, it cuts off a ton of the picture with no way to adjust it, it's laggy (extremely so according to my friend when he plays any fighting game on it). As soon as I get my funds back up sufficiently (I just bought a pair of Astro a40s and have a crap ton of Christmas shopping to do for my family), I'm going to buy a gaming monitor.

  • 12.03.2011 7:15 PM PDT

Having a smaller TV does not instantly mean you are going to do better people. There are plenty of factors that play into TV input lag.

1. Post processing features like True Motion
2. Input labels (setting input labels to "PC" gets rid of all post processing issues)
3. The TV itself, some TV's just suck.

I can destroy on my new 47" LG 3D TV but due to my friend never turning off true motion I suck on his 32" TV.
