Ok so i was on Halo Archive and read an intresting article written by Macharius

Although i will not copy and paste it here i will tell what new ideas i thought of while reading this.

It will be divided into two parts.
One on the prisoner and supposed idea of his for the flood and why.
Two the Forerunner Precursor War

Please look at both topics and later on decide what you think of it, and where you think i may be wrong.

The Prisoner
You know how the mantle says that the mantle means the protection of all species and cultivation.

So maybe the Prisoner has seen the flood as the only answer to fulfill the mantle which means that absorbing all creatures is not the killing of them, but protecting them from any evil or ill thought and bringing peace to the universe. The flood work together and have no wars among each other they act in unision doing what is right for the betterment of the colony.

War shall end and no species shall fight with each other ever again. And they shall cultivate into a trans-sentient being as one. It will be a gateway for all to follow in the footsteps of the precursors, not just a couple but all.

The flood to him was also an answer to all the internal strife, and evil coming from all species. The ill thought the violence everything to him could be solved by the flood.

Also what is the prisoners grudge against the forerunners was it one of jealousy, where two rival species fought for the power of the mantle.(Macharius actually stated this first on the Halo Archive site)

And this brings me to my second topic.

Forerunner Precusor War

So if two species were rivals on who deserved to take on the mantle was this the reason of the precursors downfalls.

Were the precursor in the middle of this hostility trying to bring peace and due to a mistake (maybe a hastily made action) they made, were attacked and seeing what their actions did they became withdrawn and decided to leave the galaxy believing they have no right meddling in the affairs of smaller beings.

A theory of the precusors ending i have is this:

The forerunners may have hunted them down due to a mistake, (you see these when great nations try to fix the smaller nations and bring them to the right side, or a mistake they did that had huge reprucussions on the forerunners). So the prisoners species defended the precursors and the forerunner started to kill many of the prisoners species and in the end the precursors after noticing they were not welcomed in their galaxy anymore left.

Also the Precursors may act like a father to a son. The son being the forerunners. The Precursors may have had two sons one the forerunners the other the Prisoners species.

So the Precursor may have been an overprotective parent or a parent who made a mistake when approaching their proud son the Forerunners and this made the Forerunners angry and they made a rash action like an adolescent teen would.

While the Prisoners species were the Precursors second child who were timid, and not out spoken, so when their parent was attacked they went to their defence but due to a mistake were cut down by their older brothers stupid thinking who did not look at the results of their action.

The forerunners may have felt anger and bitterness on their actions and so took on the mantle so that they will never make the same mistake again and not kill due to being horrified by their action. So this may the reason off their disarnment but this actions reason was read differently by the following generations.

Also to the reason of the Forerunners action may be due to their parents approach to them being protective and giving more attention to the Prisoners species than to the Forerunners and always scolding them.

Conclusion

Overall i believe something happened to the prisoner, an evil act which is why he holds a grudge but is trying to ignore it and at the same time bring indefinite peace and a true application of the mantle in the galaxy.

These answers may be answered in the Forerunner Trilogy by Nylund or in the new Halo Trilogy(Reclaimer Trilogy) where some of the greatest secrets shall be hidden till the end.

Also i would like a feedback on others thoughts on each topic i discussed. Thanks

By the power of truth, I, while living, have conquered the universe.

Redacted.

We are all going to get banned aren't we?

The only issue to that is the flood alone are not a threat to the universe meaning they couldn't accomplish that goal.

The flood would have to be a plague on a large scale such as a locust swarm and infect several galaxys at the same time to be even close to accomplishing that. Even then what were to happen If the flood took over every single galaxy? Because it wouldn't have anymore biomass to sustain itself.

Then the flood would reduce and as the tide lowers life would re-emerge. Or the flood would be forced to more into alternate dimensions in which it might not even affect anything "living" in it.

We should know better, because we are better.

I would like to restate that that it was mostly wild mass guessing on my part. It seemed to me like the twisted way someone like the Timeless One would think.

Although Grey would this be countered by the Flood understanding this threat and so deciding to start farms or maybe find a way like plants do to create their own food.

Start Photosynthesis and thus make their own food and burn them by themselves.

"but you already knew that, I mean, how couldn't you?

Only when no Human brick is left atop another, shall we be satisfied with your destruction.

If the Flood wanted to be farmers they have ample equipment and intelligence to do so, they don't, they seem driven to consume, driven beyond any rational level to be honest.

not farmers but they can still make their own food like plants do. Except they find their own way or they absorb the energy of the surrounding area to do so.

Something im learning in Chem 211 the energy for having jobs done is the excitement of electrons to a higher energy state.

Don't worry, you can't hurt me.

Driven to consume without ration UNTIL a Gravemind forms. Then there is a concious behind it. Any smart Gravemind would 1: Conquer the Species of the galaxy, not exterminate. 2: Capture the species and then cultivate them, allowing them to breed and create more offspring for the Gravemind's expansion. 3: Move on. And who is to say that when the Gravemind reaches sufficient mass that it doesn't splinter. At which point would allow for a rivalry. So the promise of peace everlasting is completely false.

Why would they splinter they are working for the same goal. Splintering is a very slight probability but it will be determined by which gravemind can consume the other gravemind into its conscience.

not a war but a battle of consciousness.

also just edited it

anyway a gravemind will always find a way for its floodlings to survive, it will even find a way to survive starvation. New flood forms will be created to answer this problem.

We should know better, because we are better.

We know next to nothing about it. Greg Bear will hopefully expand upon it in the next few books.
