Looks great. Good job.

Thanks. I didn't really do much. I just threw some killzones, some spawns, some weapons, and a handful of barricades down on The Spire. I wish more people did that. All I can find is forge world stuff and minor changes to weapon placements..

I haven't downloaded, but it looks like you have a Sword and a Plasma launcher. Map is to small for those, you might be able to keep the sword as long as its a 3v3 or more.

So, I downloaded the map. I really like the barricades; however, the weapons and weapon placement seem rather off. Having an energy sword on such a small map essentially spells doom for whoever is not in possesion of it (most likey anyone other than the person who spawns in front of the main entrance, for he/she has direct access to it). In addition, with the over-abundance of plasma pistols and needle rifles, a match could quickly turn into a noob combo fest. The plasma launcher may not be a good power weapon for this map, for it takes far too long to charge to be effective in close-corner encounters. Finally, the gravlift and mancannon do not work very effectiently. Overall, the concept of this map is sound; however, poor weapon choice and placement may result in stale and repetitive gameplay. This map is not terrible, but a few changes can be made to greatly improve its potential.

I recommend you only place a select few weapons on the map. The map is very small, so weapons should be selected and placed accordingly. I would also recommend including some human weapons; this would add variety to the gameplay. In addition, have the spawns placed so that each player has an equal or near-equal chance at the center power weapon. As for the barricades, you may wish to fix their orientation. As it is now, they do provide cover, but at the same time they constrict movement around the map (the map is small enough as it is). Finally, the mancannons should be angled so that the player lands with solid footing on top of the dome. This may require the use of a slightly more powerful type of mancannon.

Due to my lack of a gold membership, I was not able to actually play a match on this map. I did, however, study the weapon and spawn placement thoroughly. I hope this review helps, and I wish you the best of luck in perfecting this map. :)

Yeah, I wasn't sure about the weapons. I wanted enough things to keep it interesting, but I was trying to keep it covey for Elite Slayer. I'll revise what I've got. Maybe change the Plasma Launcher to a Grenade Launcher switch some NRs to Magnums and DMRs. Think I should switch the sword to hammer or shotty? Hammer could get annoying with the barriers, but it feels like it would work best..

As for he mancannons, I was trying to account for classic physics. I found with classic settings (at least the ones I tried) they put you almost at the top, and on normal physics you were on the edge but with a decent footing.
I didn't want to throw players all the way up because that could be suicide if a player is camping up there with the sword.

LONG LIVED METAL

I have to admit I quite like the look of this map.

I always thought the lack of additional building blocks in most maps was kinda disappointing.

good call on changing a boring map into something new

I like it. Seems like it may be a bit too small. probably good for 2v2. maybe you could forge a few extensions coming off of the outer platform area or to the top section.

I think that is half the problem with forging in maps other than forgeworld...there is a distinct lack of building blocks. In fact I remember trying it once with powerhouse and all I had to play with were barriers and teleporters

On that note maybe the OP could introduce a teleporter or two into this map? It would prevent effective camping of the higher ground?

Could be good for 2v2's and 1v1's, but otherwise it's just too small.

That's understandable. Elite Slayer automatically replaces human weapons with their covie counter parts. I didn't know the map was for classic or elite slayer. XD

Powerhouse has some pretty impressive crates, actually. There's one that's too big to fit in the big door at the back of the center ring, just to put it in perspective. Powerhouse has some potential - it's just a little difficult to find a good place to section off.

Teleporter - good idea. But where should it come out? There's a big hole in the middle that lets you drop down. Somewhere along the edge?

I figured the covey weapons worked with the aesthetic more. After screwing around on there, it's pretty obvious that sword is too much, as are the blueberries.
As far as being for Classic, I figure that most of the customs that get played are classic physics, at least in my experience, so accommodating that seemed smart.

Most of the maps I forge end up working best for 2v2. I just can't get the scale right for larger maps..

Welcome to the internet. Joy dies here.

Updated OP - removed all covey weapons, placed UNSC weapons. Adjusted man cannons. Added teleporters. Added kill zones and spawn zones.

Power weapons - shotgun, grenade launcher (2), magnum (2)

The grenade launchers are somewhat close together, so they only have 4 shots each. Magnums have PW length respawns for ZB. DMRs on high ground have 60 sec spawns, low ground have 15 sec spawns - ammo adjusted accordingly.

right, so i have finally played some customs (as x box live was feckin up for me last night due to all the updates) and its actually a really sound map. perfect for 4 people. The only thing i will say is that it sucks for power slayer...but is otherwise pretty good.

nicely done OP
