R.I.P. DeathPimp. Never Ending Respect.

I'm trying to become an '04, but it's not working too well."

Just wondering, you guys have any tips for new members? What forums would you recommend to the newest users?

I'd more than likely direct new members to private groups to 'test the waters' so to speak. Big tip; Don't quote someone just to quote them [Employees, Mods, Mythics]. Contribute to conversation rather than just posting silly pictures that derail threads ;)

Hello community, If you have any questions or concerns then please feel free to ask, whatever it may be and I will answer them to the best of my knowledge/ability. (It may not be THE answer you're looking for but AN answer is better than NO answer.)

KEEP CALM AND PLAY XBOX
Thank you.

It is the soldier, not the reporter, who has given us freedom of the press. It is the soldier, not the poet, who has given us freedom of speech. It is the soldier, not the campus organizer, who has given us the freedom to demonstrate. It is the soldier, not the lawyer, who has given us the right to a fair trial. And it is the soldier who salutes the flag, who serves the flag, whose coffin is draped in the flag that allows the protester to burn the flag.Father Dennis Edward O'Brien, USMC

Dont post just to post. Dont make threads just to make threads. Spamming the forums with BS threads just annoys the veterans. Posting BS and then trying to cover your ass by saying please and thankyou at the end also is lame sauce.

I guess just inform them of anything important. Tell them to read the rules too. Oh, and if they cannot spell, tell them to run their posts thru a spell checker. I got a bad time about my spelling and grammar on the site when I first joined. But regardless, I got beter a spelling and grammar too.

I was a finalist :P

1. Play nice. Don't be a jerk.
2. Consult Duardo's FAQ if unsure of something. If your question is not answered in the FAQ, pester Duardo consulting "why?"
3. Don't feed bad trolls. Feeding Achilles is fine, though.

The beta is super awesome. RogueAssassin27 is now the person who got my Totodile's nickname. Hoo-hah! Relevant.inb4lock

Post your crap first, improve from there. Just like I did!

Hello, I'm Mr AwesomePizza. I like pizza and I'm a man. Reasoning for the name. I like to listen to the classics of music, write poetry, play video games, and much much more. I'm always down for a nice chat, so please hit me up for some conversation.

Read all the rules, use manners, and contribute to the community.

SPOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOON!

Let them know that its completely natural to dislike Qbix.

OT: READ THE RULES! That is the most important piece of advice that I can give anyone here, be they new or old.

If you don't like a thread, ignore it. If you don't like a user, ignore them. There's no reason to call them out or flame them or do anything else to them (exception : Qbix).

If you want to post something that you think breaks the rules or comes close to that line, you probably shouldn't post it.

Despite what it looks like on the surface, most people on this site are actually pretty nice and helpful. Don't be afraid to ask someone for help if you have a question. Feel free to PM me to ask me anything.

Try to get banned as much as possible in a very short period of time, it builds character.

Speaking of chuckles, let's all lol at IonicPaul, who makes friends with bugs to make up for his lack of human contact.

Know that if you are out of line in the Flood, evilcam will strike you down. And no, you won't become more powerful than you could possibly imagine.

1) The rules are not up there for your interpretation. If it's vague (which I don't believe the rules are vague anymore), then be on the safe side and don't do it. I've known a number of people who have gotten banned for something they thought was okay.

2) If you run into the 30-second warning, you're not putting enough effort into your posts. See if you can add any further information and check your spelling & grammar.

3) Don't quote Ninjas/Employees/Older Members if you aren't contributing anything. Actually, this applies to any situation; if you have nothing to contribute, don't post anything.

4) Play nice.

5) The edit button is your friend.

Well, be respectful and don't post pictures you don't want to look at, there's a good chance that'll get you banned.

However, being disrespectful to Qbix is perfectly acceptable.

I lol'd at the absurd miscommunication that occurs whenever dibbs post something. Perhaps his brain is so highly evolved that he can no longer clearly communicate with lesser life forms, even among his own species.

Amuse me.

Or else.

Always remember, quality >> quantity. And as said before, don't just post for its own sake; lurk around and find something you are interested in / can contribute to discussion.

NO GROUP INVITES

Jesus took 3 days to respawn, talk about lag.

Just dont be afraid to speak your mind. Sure, trolls will harass you, but the mods will kill them. Your point will get across.

  • 11.02.2011 10:27 PM PDT

I would have to recommend one of the slower forums first. There's a lot less overall spam and garbage posts; the Community Forum is a great example. It's the site's members getting together and discussing Bungie and each other. Lots of fun. The Flood is also a fun place if you stick to good threads and ignore trolls.

Remember this:

Bungie is no longer managing the Halo Universe. While our Halo-related forums and stats remain available, be advised that "official" answers and support about the Halo Universe (past, present, or future) are not.

Oh, and don't click links from John Cena

OP - You're a dumbass with the reading comprehension skills of a second grader.

Can someone tell me what's wrong with these two, this made me LOL hard.

Read the rules before posting.

Don't be overly sarcastic or witty. Just enough for a laugh, but not too much that you'd piss someone off.

  • 11.02.2011 11:53 PM PDT

I'll only tell you one time...

On topic, the best advice I can give is to not take insults or asshats seriously. It's never worth getting worked up over someone else's opinion.

  • 11.03.2011 12:17 AM PDT

Key

1. As a new user, you should definitely stick to the Septagon for a while. It's much leas threatening than The Flood and you'll be more likely to be amongst good company along with meeting some Ninjas and Employees along the way (perhaps desensitizing you to the experience a bit, which is definitely a good thing).

2. Type like an intelligent person, or, at least, type like a NORMAL person. Bungie.net isn't posts aren't text messages and treating them as if they are in your spelling and grammar of your posts will only end with you being looked down upon and your opinions credibility lessened.

3. [Insert spartain Ken joke here]

4. Don't be afraid to ask things, especially about the site and how things work. Just be responsive and not annoyingly confused when someone answers exactly what you wanted them to answer. (There's no reall way to ensure you follow that latter sentence, it's just something that sometimes annoys me with new members.)

:)

Private groups aren't nearly as active enough to understand how things work.

I'd direct them to the Flood. It's the most laid back forum and you learn how things work pretty quickly...
