Subject: The "Community" Forum

We're the Flintstones kids, ten million strong and growing...

Glass Galaxies - a theme for bungie.net

Per audacia ad astra. Halo Reach | Destiny

I like The Septagon, but I think it should have some sort of prefix name in the menu in the same way that the flood has "Off Topic" to help new users. Something like "Bungie General: The Septagon", though that name is too long to fit on the menu.

It would be cool if Bungie tasked us with renaming the Bungie.net Community forum. The Septagon was a good name, but I'm sure we could come up with some other good ones.

I liked the name "Septagon" but this name is more descriptive. If someone is new to B.net, they might know, based on the name, to come here to discuss the community.

I've always called it the Septagon unless I'm talking to someone too new to know what I'm talking about.

  • 11.03.2011 11:58 AM PDT

The name seems fine; however some of it's users are too eager to talk about Halo: Reach in it.

Hello, I'm Mr AwesomePizza. I like pizza and I'm a man. Reasoning for the name. I like to listen to the classics of music, write poetry, play video games, and much much more. I'm always down for a nice chat, so please hit me up for some conversation.

Telling someone to stay on topic and not link random stuff to their thread is playing moderator? lol no

I've always strongly preferred "The Septagon" to "Bungie Community Forum". It just feels like The Septagon is a more "Bungieish" phrase than the sorta sterile Community forum.

I'd rather we go back to The Septagon and Underground and "chapters". Though, that's just me, and the names are not here for my personal benefit. They help newer users figure out what this or that is or how it functions. That is understandably important. I still prefer the more "in the know" method though. It encourages lurking and questions.

Also, the original name for this board was "The Chapter Founders Forum".

But... I thought that you were going to be calling it "The Screw"?

I read an old thread about something about that. That's how I know, in case you were wondering.

If this forum were to ever be called the screw - short of a silly meme - I would happily hunt down every single one of you.

*Ahem*

Septagon, forever and always.

The Screw. Good times man.

I also prefer The Septagon.

It's okay because I said the name of the forum.

You imply a level of control over Halo: Reach matchmaking that we no longer have. Or, in your vernacular, it isn't our shiznit anymore.

I couldn't imagine what a new member would create a thread about on this forum if they didn't know about "The Screw" thread.

I too prefer The Septagon over The Community Forum.

  • 11.03.2011 3:54 PM PDT

I did always think The Screw had a nice ring to it.

The game forums are the tourist district. The flood is the red light district. The gallery is the art district. The classifieds is the business district. None are truly citizens (well, the flood are technically citizens but nobody wants to claim the bad parts of town).

The community is for the people who have made this place home.

Lurking like a baws. Totally. It's like totally important if I post because I barely post.

...

WHO EVEN LOOKS AT SIGNATURES ON BUNGIE.NET ANYWAY???

The Screw.

Sounds interesting to be honest.

In a time long past, the armies of the dark came again to the lands of men. Their leaders became known as the fallen lords, and their terrible sorcery was without equal in the west.
In 30 years they reduced the civilized nations into carrion and ash. Until the free city of Madrigal alone defined them. An army gathered there, and a desperate battle was joined against the fallen
Heros were born in the fire and bloodshed of the wars which followed and their names and deeds will never be forgotten

If we are "the screw", is Bungie "the hammer" or "the screwdriver"?
