This headset is about 200$ and I was wondering if any of you default halo warriors have tried and/or have this headset? IS it better than the Astro a 40's?

I had it, it broke when I had the nerve to turn it off. HOW DARE I! I'm just sticking with the Turtle beach 11x's or whatever they're called, they're pretty dependable.

I have both, the a40s are much better for halo. Ax pros are better for cod.

Astro's are not worth the hype, the MIXAMP is great, but many other headsets out perform the A40s.

I heard they are brittle and break easily.

I have AX720s and they are way more durable than Turtle Beaches (I owned the X3s). Its sooooo comfortable and the the sound is crisp. Bass is deep-ish but nothing too drastic like it says it does (however, I don't really like bass).

The one thing I really don't like there is no voice playback so you can't really hear yourself when talking, but you get used to it quickly. Also the mic isn't all that sensitive so you have to speak up a little bit when talking.

Unlike Turtle Beach though, everything in the replacement store is incredibly cheap. It's like $5 for a new mic unlike TB where it's $15 for a chord that goes from the headset to the mic (lame).

I really enjoy them and I'm glad I bought them, they are nothing short of awesome. You won't regret getting them.

From what Ive seen Tritons break way too easily.

Trust me when say this a40s are the best headset for halo. I've had ax pro/720 turtle beaches x31/px3 and Astro a40s. The trittons "outperform" the Astros, but the Astros sound WAY better than the trittons for halo.

A40s, you can hear footsteps from flag-snipe hut.

Ax pros your hear flag-turret

The only I i have with the Astros are the lack of bass. Compared to the trittons they suck, but the Astros I would recommend for halo.

Fun fact: 9/10 users with no linked gamertag are better than you at Halo. That doesn't necessarily mean that I am; but it does mean there's a pretty solid chance.

$200?

Just buy a surround sound system. Won't cost you much more, you'll get better sound quality, it'll last longer and you'll be able to use it for more than just videogames.

I don't understand why people bother with this 'fancy headset' fad.

Most people have other people living in their house. Whether the person be a teenager with parents or an adult with a gf, wife, roommates, etc. So its best to get a headset that is surround sound for you, but it wont bother everyone else in the home.

Not unless you plan to run everything on full volume, or your house has paper-thin walls.

Still, I suppose you can spend your money how you like. Just doesn't seem like very clean logic to me.

The cop next door wouldn't be very happy about my new surround sound system.

They are nice, but have a buzz when no audio is present. Also you can usually find cheaper on amazon.

Not even. I had to go back to a regular headset for a while and I couldnt hear people at all unless i pressed the ear piece against my ear.

People also have these things called neighbors...

Headsets also allow direct sound without the aspect of an echo. Sure, you can buy a full stereo system but even at that, you have speakers 4-10ft from your ears. I like keeping my sound to myself and not bothering others.

I started with headsets because I had a roommate and since he's moved out I still buy headsets. I have a nice BOSE system, but I use that one for movies on my big screen. Who is going to use a full surround sound system on a 20-24" monitor/TV?

Another thing you are missing is playing headphones at 1/2 power is like playing a normal surround sound at full power. To hear the sounds required in a headset on a standard system requires extreme volumes. I rarely ever turn my MIXUP up more then 1/2 power but when I watch movies in my BOSE system, to hear foot steps my house shakes from the base.

Maybe I have excellent hearing or something because I have to turn my cheap-o mic down, especially when they start arguing.
