I feel that weapon spread better displays an individual's skill with weapons, for it gives a better estimate of how often a player kills and is killed by a particular weapon. Please post weapons only (including melee). No vehicles or environmental kills (falling, explosions, etc.) Well, have at it. :)

Mine are:

Magnum: +268
Melee: +151
Shotgun: +127
Needler: +105
Gravity Hammer: +87

I've seen this exact thread earlier today. You might want to request a lock.

I saw a K/D ratio thread, but not a spread thread.

Just did, and this thread is no where to be seen. If you are talking about that K/D thread, then you are mistaken. There is a great difference between K/D and weapon spread.

Ratio > Spread

So, let's say a person has a 20.00 competitive K/D with the sniper rifle. This person must be one amazing sniper, right? You take a good look at his spread, and it turns out he only has 20 kills and 0 deaths with it. Now you see why K/D is often misleading?

It's a combination of both really. I mean, my Spiker K/D is at 28.00. That's because I've never been killed by a Spiker in MM. At the same time, I could have a +20000 spread with a DMR, but it wouldn't be that impressive if I had like 200000 kills and 180000 deaths.

No. Let's take 2 examples.

Player A
DMR Ratio is 5.00

Player B
DMR Ratio is 2.50

Now if you look at spread,

Player A
DMR Spread is +8

Player B
DMR Spread is +6000

If you looked at ratio, you would think player A would be better. Spread tells the better story.

@OP:

Sniper +341
Melee -258
AR +59
Gravity Hammer -45
Magnum -8
NR +138

Both spread and ratio are misleading with insufficient data. With enough stats, ratio is a vastly superior gauge of performance.

With K-D, you don't get nearly as much information as K/D. How good is a sniper with +200000 sniper kills? We don't get an idea of how many snipes he gets for every time he is sniped.

Very good point. By itself I think spread gives a better description of skill; however, the combination of both ratio and spread give the clearest picture. Thank your for pointing that out. :)

We are not talking about snipes. We are talking about kills in general. As stated above, a combination of K/D and spread give the best picture.

DMR- +17,727
Sniper- +7,715
Magnum- +3,257
Melee- +1,983
Needle Rifle- +1,712

Ratio is better than spread, spread is way too influenced by playtime.
