Why are you reading my signature? Who actually opens these things and reads them!

And as always, SEND ME A PM. Please. Or really bad things will happen to you.

Really, the best part of them is that they add some color to the site. If everyone was the same color it'd be boring. I think that's why gold and salmon posts are so popular, too. The color really stands out.

I play for fun and armory completion. :)

I think titles are good addition to the site. Why is that? I for one know I would be more prone to breaking the rules if there would not be some visible consequence for doing so.

I agree with this. Without titles, I think the community would fall apart.

Pretty stupid. I was banned 3 days ago, when I was legendary, and once the ban expired I was... Mythic, for the first time in ages.

  • 11.04.2011 10:53 PM PDT

Coup somewhat defeats the purpose of the titles, but with what people have said before, I think it's a motivator to play by the rules.

  • 11.04.2011 10:59 PM PDT

Honestly, this must be a joke. Child, listen, stop trying to defend yourself because clearly you are incapable of it. The only idiot in this thread is yourself, and trust me, it is obvious. So, how about you do as I asked earlier and log off, mommy and daddy wouldn't want you staying up this late.

The fast track to mythic.

I like the titles, as they allow me to exert my status over the peons.

That is the part I don't like, how random it is. We should be roughly guided on how to achieve ranks.

Their pretty useless, but fun. Just how they should be. I don't really care that much.

  • 11.04.2011 11:19 PM PDT

"That's about all that can be said for plots, which anyway are just one thing after another, a what and a what and a what.

Now try how and why."

The only people I think that I've ever seen really get excited over them are people who haven't had them before. It's sort of like when moving to a new game with fancy graphics: I notice it for all of ten seconds before my mind starts filtering out the unimportant details.

Then again, I'd be lying if I said that it hasn't been fun to have some sort of system hand me a really nice hat. I know that they've probably been engrained into the mush in my skull to the point that I'm going feel like something is missing when they're finally gone.

I am...whimsical today.

They are amazing.
I am not biased.

Honestly, I'd quite like some kind of obscure comedic titles. Seemingly unconnected and random actions of a user could earn then 'Grease in the cogs' or 'Polisher of brass' for a few days.

Retaining old data, or from fresh?
What system would you incorporate, if you were 'da boss'?

I think they are fine the way they are, they encourage most members to stay well behaved.

  • 11.05.2011 4:30 AM PDT

I really hope they decide to change the titles up every once in a while, but they're definitely fine as they are.

  • 11.05.2011 4:52 AM PDT

What a hipster.

Not necessary yet a ton of fun.

They're nothing too serious, but I do believe that they discourage rule-breaking, so they're fine with me.
And this. Users with higher titles usually try to be on their best behavior. They've been "working" for that title for a far too long time, and they're not going to do anything to give it up that easily.

Basic knowledge of the forum also a factor. Over those (lets say 3 years) it takes to earn the Mythic title I'm sure users pick up a few tricks along the way, and lets face it, if a user doesn't and he's at the point where he's willing to do anything to become a part of the Community, he gets completely exiled. Something I've seen far too much of around here.

Higher titles give people a motive to do the right thing. When someone with a title gets banned they usually take one of three routes:
1. Meh, they don't really care and just keep posting as usual.
2. They want to regain their title and learn from their mistakes.
3. They feel like now that they're considered the lowest of the low, and why bother. They take up a new route of trolling and constantly breaking the rules. They feel the ninjas have no leverage on them anymore, giving them no motive to keep going on a site for a video game company.

KAOS DEAMON:
A slight ‘’incident’’ has occurred in the forum. Me and Random have both been banned by myself. Which is annoying? Hopefully this is fixable? PLZ? Random is becoming angry.

In my opinion they are a good thing as they generally stop rule breakers, everyone wants to become a "higher" title and therefore they will be less likely to spam or deliberately post something against the rules. I'm not saying this for all cases because there is obviously those who just come on these forums to troll and spam the forums.

However there are some aspects of the system that I do not specifically like. Mostly due to the apparent randomness.

They can seems to be random and sudden, one day you can be one title and it can change for the next. However I think this appears as more of a shock to the users because we don't actually see and "progress" to the next prefix or title until we hit it. You may want to read though this thread, I found it is well put together and allows us to have a real understanding of the member titles. Of course some of that is theoretical and other parts have been confirmed.

Only regret is I didn't play more of it.

If you haven't noticed by now, I'm sort of a jerk.

They are a hat. Nothing more.

Taking this seriously would be akin to huffing paint.

You can't honestly think someone who gets banned would ever feel like they're 'the lowest of the low' because they lost their hat.

It is the soldier, not the reporter, who has given us freedom of the press. It is the soldier, not the poet, who has given us freedom of speech. It is the soldier, not the campus organizer, who has given us the freedom to demonstrate. It is the soldier, not the lawyer, who has given us the right to a fair trial. And it is the soldier who salutes the flag, who serves the flag, whose coffin is draped in the flag that allows the protester to burn the flag.Father Dennis Edward O'Brien, USMC

Its simple. Blue bars= better then non blue bars. Not only in the forums, but in life.
