In his defense, I am about to propose to a 20 year old so I can't knock him there. Then again my missus isn't a total tool like Goat is though so actually, fair play.


Getting married to a 20 year old hottie is a bit different to organising a play date with your 19 year old buddy so you can test Halo maps though, Danny.

sounds good!!! As a forger myself, I would love to help playtest and maybe even help make this map! Just as one of the only issues I percieve, are you sure that players cannot glitch into the depot before it opens via getting on a goose through a wall?


If players do manage to glitch into the caches I'll put a kill zone in there and make sure all the items inside spawn in on the phase.

I might use the bank flooring in a building, but large spaces with it can get laggy because it's a lot of pieces.

I'll let you in on the testing when it's ready. Thanks for the feedback.

Considering the fact that I only have 50 walls to work with, I'd say I'm doing a nice job of budgeting. Balancing lines of sight is what I'm working on right now.

Update on phases:

Phase 1-Open Supply Cache
Phase 2-destroy security doors on Oliphant
Phase 3-Deliver sensitive data from Oliphant to safe location

So that goes

P1: 1 Territory
P2: 2 Assault arm points
P3: Core Capture


Should be interesting because Gooses are available in Phase 2. That makes Phase 2 faster paced than Phase 3, which will be a long stretch of walking the core back to the base. With Ghosts in the streets, we're in for some interesting splatters.

Gonna be lots of fun to play. Doing revisions to the layout again.

Yes, oliphant is the Afrikaans word for elephant, and was what the civilian elephant in ODST was called.

LOTR called them that for obvious reasons, although I always thught it was arlephant in LOTR.

Fans of both the Ghost and Mongoose will have a lot of fun riding around the city streets. I can't wait to see how they turn out. I've had to design the map so that vehicles are useful, but not overbearing.

I'm redesigning the spartan spawn again because it's too easy to spawn kill if the spartans are down a player or two. I have to keep not only player quantity in mind, but LoS and safe spawning as well. Since I'm having DMRs/NRs in the first phase, the spartan spawn has to have some sort of advantage or concept to keep Spartans safe until they join the battle.

I'm very meticulous when it comes to Invasion. Everything has to be just so, and if it isn't I'll scrap the whole concept till it is.

EDIT: I'm just gonna build a very large building for Spartan Spawns. This way, they essentially own the Quarry and Elites wont be able to enter due to shield doors. They trick here though is to make sure Elites can't wait outside the shield doors for spartans to rush in. That's why I'm designing elevated pathways, meaning there'll be 3 ways out of the quarry and into the city.

Problem solved. Nobody's getting spawn killed during Phase 1. :)

Will the Spartans have AL in one of their loadouts?


Armor Lock and Drop Shield do not appear in any of the loadouts, as both of them are detrimental to objectives. The last thing I wanna see is someone armor locking in the territory for the last 5 seconds, or a drop shield huddle around the core.

I'm doing my best to perfect the design. I know what I want to be on the map, so the main challenge is figuring out how I transcribe my vision into Forge.

Again, I've literally gone through hundreds of sheets of paper to draft up layouts for this map. In the last 4 weeks I've built 20 different concepts. Now that I have a foundation for the map, I'll be bringing ideas from the other concepts and merging them into the final one. That means anything from watch towers and oliphants to streetlights and lit-up arrows.

It's gonna be phenomenal. I'm excited because I've never been as close to the final design as I am now.

Update:

Ditching the Quarry. I realized that I was using it just to be there, and it's hindering the expansion of the map. Because of my new safe spawn for spartans, I no longer need to start the map in the quarry for first phase. I was also spending an unnecessary amount of budget to hide the rocks that jutted into the city at its corners.

So yea, I'm going back to the skybox to build. That'll make the coliseum walls much brighter too.

Everything else is the same at this point.

Phase 1: Territory for Supply Cache
Phase 2: Bomb open doors to Oliphant
Phase 3: Deliver Data Core to safe location

Wish I could still keep Reverse core for the sake of being unique, but I think Bomb will be a better idea in the long run. You can rush it on a mongoose, and if you don't have any you can still take it through the safety of the buildings.

Again, gonna be lots of fun. No deadline as of yet. I know I said today It'll be done but this redesign of the Spartan spawns throws the rest of the layout.
