Good News: Phase 1 is finished and ready for testing
Bad News: My disc is falling apart. Some idiot didn't know how to put it in its case properly, so the center ring is cracked. It took 30 minutes to get the Xbox to read it, but it sounds like my Xbox is digesting the disc instead of running it.

Pix coming later tonight.


Install the game to the hard drive, preferably before the disc is broken, to reduce wear and tear on the disc.

Thankfully it was already installed, so the disc doesn't really spin after the console recognizes it.
My H3 isn't recognized at all. My Xbox says "Unrecognizable Disc" but I can still play it because it's installed.

That would be so awesome. Instead I'm gonna have to use raw talent (and an image of course) to forge one myself.

How's it going Goat? You've been working on this for a month now I see. When can we test it?


Still no target date in sight, as I've been redesigning to fix a LoS issue I had. I'm also really trying to keep the idea of map control/rush for power weapon consistent throughout the phases, which means a central building, and that needs to be designed perfectly.

The aesthetic is downpacked--anyone can recognize it as ODST. The layout, however, is still being drawn and redrawn. I stumbled upon a breakthrough in design and now I have to incorporate it.

The first phase is not a problem. I've decided that the territory is not going to be right by Elite spawns, meaning both teams have to push and control the map in order to win for the round for them. This way, defenders are always active and they aren't just sitting at their territory waiting for attackers to come. This fixes Boneyard's biggest problem--you aren't really doing anything when the Elites are making their way to the territories. That's why I always jump down and charge straight at them.

I'm debating second phase's reverse core. If I do go with reverse core, I have to design the phase in a way so that you can still get to the core if you drop it all the way near the drop point. I wont be having the core reset, so it'll always be a constant pushing effect to inch the core closer to its score point. I don't want to do bomb because there are mongooses in second phase. This will kill infantry combat, which I want to focus on in the second phase. But there'll still be light vehicles.

Phase 3 is a toughy, but I think I'll go with assault. Now the question is just what are we blowing up? Maybe a Covenant Radar Jammer? I'll think of something.

But yea Crates if you or anyone has an idea to share for phase 3 I'm all ears.

Oh, and the Oliphant is still in :)

I think that you should have the assault phase be to blow up a covenant infested railway station. 2 bomb plants, one on the train and one on the tracks across from it.

If you want the fight to remain in the streets, have the assault target be destruction of a covenant fleet base.

Actually now that you mention it, I did have a railway station in the map at some point. I threw away that concept though cause it was expensive, and we didn't really see trains in ODSTl

I think I'll build a radar jammer for phase 3. The problem with that though is then the city doesn't really get used for phase 3; you just pass through it on gooses instead.

So it's a challenge. I wanna use the Theory of Recycling so I don't use up all my budget, but at the same time I feel as though I have to make entirely new areas for each phase, which contradicts the very principle I developed. Build 3 battles within a map, not 3 maps.

Each day brings me closer to victory. I know i'm all talk now but I promise it'll be worth it once it's done.

What is the main objective [3rd phase], and what do they have to do to finish it [phase 1 and two.] So far you have the ODST's dropping in to lock down the area, then you have them bring the data core in to unlock something. What are they unlocking? If you go with the radar tower, why are they blowing it up? Did they use the core to download records from the tower, then blow it up to present the Elites from getting the same information? You have most of the map built for gameplay, now you just need to insert the objectives for the story.

Yea the story aspect is probably one of the reasons why it's taking so long to build. Earlier concepts had the player blow up a radar jammer in the city, and I had a good name for the map with that objective. Another concept toyed around with reverse core for all three phases, which meant it was like a checkpoint system requiring players to deliver it to 3 locations.

The unfortunate part about this though is that some setups work better in customs than in MP. I have to keep in the back of my mind how the map will play if players have quit. If there are only 3 Spartans left vs 6 Elites, how are they going to move around the map, and how many options do they have?

All that has to be taken into consideration on top of what i'm already taking into consideration. There's just so much to keep in mind. I don't want to make simple mistakes that other invasion maps--including my own--have made.

How I kill? Simple effective Head shots and Beat downs. My newest favorite saying? Bullet meet head, head meet bullet. I would love to say this to a current telemarketer. I now have come up with Operation Laser. Operation Laser is the basis of basic lasering. Spartan Lasers ftw!

Well, Phase 1 is territories. The territories open up a garage for Reverse Core in phase 2. Once they capture the reverse core, maybe that core powers a door way to open up beneath the Spartan Spawn to reveal a jammer, or Scarab part convoy. The bomb for phase 3 spawns at the capture point of the core. So it'd become almost reverse bomb. Just an idea though.
