Those things being bad for competitive gameplay can be disputed.

No they can't.
Random elements induced by the game rather than the player in a vain effort to produce variety lower the game's competitive quality since it's no longer up to the player's skill to determine the degree and type of play that is done in a match and since people must now rely that much more on equipment rather than individual skill with such equipment. Some equipment will certainly be more useful simply because of the map that players are on, thus making some equipment preferable to others and directly ruining balance in an inherent fashion.

To say that these new assets are completely useless is short minded, since a randomized weapon drop system (as far as the general weapon sandbox goes) could be useful to a degree and since these new AA's could create new possibilities for map design (like they could have done so in Reach and did so in Reach's MLG).

I can even think of a way to use loadouts (not Custom loadouts) that would better compliment the amount of weapons put into the game by making the general format of preset loadouts to be utility/appropriate general sandbox weapon, which would induce variety while relying on the balance of the sandbox, which is that much easier to accomplish with the inclusion of the utility as a concept.

The problem is that the implementation of these new elements are all done wrong from a competitive standpoint and leave a lot of room for improvement. Hopefully the settings are flexible enough to allow for what I am talking about to be achieved.

Yes they can. I'm not even going to read your post because you're still stuck in this mentality that "opinion = fact"

It just doesn't. We can agree on all of the same topics (which we likely do), but the 'true' fact is that the way these things affect people is completely subjective.

Read the post. I didn't put down anything that was my opinion. The only things that come close to it are the assumptions that skill and balance are major factors for competitive play.

343 knows what they are doing.

Why else would Microsoft hire them?

I'm confused. Are you talking about the company or the employees?

  • 09.04.2012 1:30 PM PDT

Both. The company knows, because it is composed of employees who know.

Why Bungie, why would you do this?! - Halo Community

I don't really think so.

...Microsoft would hire them to make money because games make money and to make games you need a company to make games to make money. How they achieve this doesn't really matter to them.

I am still going to get H4 in hopes that 343 taking away half the TU, keeping armor lock, ignoring the competitive community almost completely, remaking average or bad maps, bad taste in maps, their harsh and rash playlist executions, and all the other awful things they have done to Reach in a little under a year will all just go away by magic and I can enjoy the game.

I intend to live forever, or die trying,

so far, so good.

Has anything been announced in Halo 4 regarding INVASION.

I did hear that you were no longer able to play elites, but another class of enemy would be playable.

Is this class the "Promethean Knights"???

Any one know anything about INVASION for Halo 4?

Honestly, this is a good cover up for all the idiots who won't know its a cover up .

Why are the Defiant and BOB threads locked but this isn't? It's not doing anything other than discussing H4.

Halo 4 is important to the topic at hand in that it may have a mode that is similar enough to Invasion that Goat can cut his losses here and then just make the maps for Halo 4.

We may have gone OT a bit with the feature discussion, but parts of Halo 4's release are relevant.

Im not creating any new maps for REACH, i am waiting for Halo 4.

I think there will be an Invasion, and i think it will play much different to Halo REACH. Hopefully 343 will release details on this soon.

Because bungie sucked and refused to listen to either the fans OR the people who owned the game (bungie forgot that they sold the game to Microsoft back in 2000 ... even demanding a squatters move-on fee in 2007).

Microsoft had no choice, bungie had serious infighting between the staff. Many had moved on, and many more gladly jumped ship to 343 when the game moved. Can see it is still a mess with the problems Activision are now having to bungie - refusal to attend E3 and the Tokyo show ('lets getinto the PS3 market by ignoring the consoles home?!?').

Will see what 343 can do ... and if it is to happen it will be after H4 (thats just bungie housekeeping) ... but bungie had to go.

Bungie left. They weren't told to leave.

lol - thats like using the 'I was lagged out, I didnt quit' defense to avoid a quit ban.
(kinda ironic how your beloved bungie add that feature into reach, and then 'left the game' as you prefer to see it)

There is enough public information for the truth to be known ... bottom line is that bungie became a VERY difficult partner (for many reasons), bungie put an ultimatum (blackmail?) to Microsoft that they get what bungie wants, or bungie leaves.

Microsoft told bungie it could go.
Or if you want to flavour it, Microsoft released bungie from the contract ... either way, under contract law (not bungie law - lol) only the primary contract holder may release a subservient party. Even if bungie had declared itself broke or non-functional it would have been up to Microsoft to release them from contract (after claiming rights owed).

Go back to Waypoint, bucko.
