Halo 4 Individual Ranking 1-50 system

THE FORMULA:

RANK 1.01+ = CURRENTRANK + KD/2 + ASSISTS/25 + Perfection F = 0, T = 1
RANK 1.0 = CURRENTRANK + 0 + ASSISTS/25 + Perfection F = 0, T = 1
RANK 0.99- = CURRENTANK - (DK - [ASSISTS/25]) + Perfection F = 0, T = 1

or simply

r+= cr+kd/2+a/25+p
r = cr+0+a/25+p
r- = cr-(dk-[a/25])+p

key:

KD = Kill:Death ratio
DK = Death:Kill ratio
Current Rank = The rank the player was before the game started
Assists = speaks for itself
F = false
T = true
disp. = rank displayed on player's profile
p = perfection


*4.0 K/D is the maximum ratio a player can get (+2 ranks).
WHY? Players rank up too fast otherwise.

*4.0 D/K is the maximum ratio a player can get (+2 ranks).
WHY? Players rank down too fast otherwise.

eg: Player gets 8 kills 2 deaths 0 assists = +2 ranks
Player gets 10 kills 0 deaths 0 assists = +2 ranks

*A player must get a minimum of 5 kills before the KD formula takes place. 5-6 kills uses the win/loss too.
WHY? It prevents players from getting 4 kills, hiding out and gaining a whole 2 ranks.

eg: Player gets 4 kills 0 deaths 0 assists = +0 ranks
Player gets 5/6 kills 0 deaths 0 assists (Did the team win? T/F) If false then -1.0 = +1 rank, If true then +0 = +2 ranks
Player gets 7+ kills 0 deaths 0 assists = +2 ranks

A new player plays a game of Team Slayer.
The player gets 10 kills 5 deaths and 5 assists.

r = cr+kd/2+assists/25+p
r = 1+1+0.2+0
r = 2.2 (disp. 2)

This player plays 5 more games of Team Slayer.
Game 2 - 6 kills 12 deaths 2 assists
Game 3 - 12 kills 2 deaths 6 assists
Game 4 - 8 kills 7 deaths 5 assists
Game 5 - 9 kills 9 deaths 5 assists
Game 6 - 15 kills 0 deaths 10 assists


G2

r = 2.2 - (1.0-0.08) + 0
r = 2.2 - 0.92
r = 1.28 (disp. 1)

G3

r = 1.28+2.0+0.24 + 0
r = 3.52 (disp. 4)

G4

r = 3.52+0.57+0.2 + 0
r = 4.29 (disp. 4)

G5

r = 4.29+0+0.2 + 0
r = 4.49 (disp. 4)

G6

r = 4.49+2.0+0.4 + 1
r = 7.89 (disp. 8)

A new player will not rank up fast if they're not really good, this is why a gimmick system is used such as EXP/cR to make it seem like they're ranking up
a lot.

A TruSkill / Halo 2 type 1-50 system could be coupled with the Individual Rank called 'Teamwork: x(1-50)' or 'Team rank: x' based on win/loss.

The only thing that should matter is whether you win or lose. Your system would further encourage making new accounts and stat-whoring.

They need to make it purely win based and remove the ability to boost with a bad win/loss. If people don't like losing because of bad teammates then play with friends or don't play a team based playlist.

How the hell can you suggest a ranking system when we know NOTHING about the game.

It might not even have the same gameplay style that we are used to.

Some people like going in w/o friends 50 high, but can't because they're afraid of losing. I could go in any time and stat-whore 50 high and not be afraid of losing it to -blam!- team mates. Not to mention this would tell you the difference between illegitimate 50s and true 50s. You need to keep at a constant skill to maintain your 50, and if you continue to get positive K/Ds you're rewarded and the 50 locks in. I honestly couldn't give a -blam!- if people stat-whored. I think Individual skill should be removed from MLG only and replaced with a win/loss. TD 50s would no longer be able to get carried to 50.

So, I basically skimmed through, but this seems very thought-out, I'll read through it in depth later. So, even though this is "Individual", will this be applied in Team Playlists? I think this actually can work out. If you think about it, it is very much possible to get completely carried all the way 1-50 in H3, where as this system would give you an absolute accurate description of individual skill. I like this.

I think the people against this are not confident enough in their own individual skill to embrace this. The only flaw I see as of now is that it encourages stat-whoring...but stat whoring, once you have played enough, will get harder and harder as you go up against players matching your skill level.

+1 from me. I would seriously LOVE if H4 embraced a more individualized ranking system such as this. It has some small flaws, but I would hope this could be used. I like how assists slowly add on as well.

If somebody really cares that much about losing a game searching solo then they should just wait until their friends get online. It's a team game for a reason, the whole point is to win, not lose and go positive.

A main slayer is no doubt better than an objective/support player in team deathmatch games. This is why a win/loss system is put in place for objective styled playlists such as MLG, Team Objective etc.

edit: okay I see what you mean. Players can play well together in 3s and 4s. Maybe the team could have some sort of link with each other? Like a rank/experience bar displayed with the ind. rank? While simply searching solo/2s would display the individual rank. idk.

Just came to mind-

The Teamwork rank or w/e could be displayed from 1-5. This displays your win/loss ratio with those particular players (only searching 3s and 4s)

1 being the worst, 5 being the best.

1 = 1 W/L ratio and anything below. (250 wins 250 losses, 250 wins 1000 losses)

2 = 2 W/L ratio (1.5 - 2.49) (eg: 260 wins 130 losses)

3 = 3 W/L ratio (2.5-3.49) (eg: 300 wins 100 losses)

4 = 4 W/L ratio (3.5-4.49) (eg: 600 wins 150 losses)

5 = 5 W/L ratio (4.5 - 5+) (eg: 1000 wins 200 losses)

Let's take a game for example:

3 players John Jim and James decide to play TS.

They play 5 games in a row, then James leaves and is replaced with a new player, Jake. These players will no longer have their TWR displayed, as they are a new group. The group must play a minimum of 5 games for their rank to be determined.

This would probably be pretty useless at anything other than 50 high. So maybe it's 50s exclusive.

Sure, this promotes new accs, but would you rather that then deranking and boosting? I'd hope so.

Edit AGAIN lol: Maybe instead of numbers it could make the team's have a colour or something? Eg: Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, Onyx...

That actually is a better system than Halo 3's. Stat whoring isn't game breaking. It just seperates the people who play as a hobbie and the people who play as a goal or an achievement.

The Halo 3 ranking system is fine.I have never seen anything wrong with it so i dont know why people complain and say its terrible.

The only people who complained about Halo 3's ranking system were people who weren't good enough to get 50s because they couldn't beat second accounts and derankers.

Most of the kids that apparently couldnt rank up never took the time to learn how to play the game.

I liked the H3 system, but think that you should be able to go in solo without fear of losing. I don't see the H3 type TruSkill returning because of boosters/derankers.

Are you kidding? There are loads of flaws in it. The only reason people say otherwise is because it's the best one we've got. If this system were to work better than Halo 3's it would be amazing. I want to see something different. Not to different like Reach because that ranking system is just retarded. But enough so that after playing the game for3-4 years you don't get fed up with all the bs. 2009 towards the end i was loosing my head. Playing Halo 3 for 3 years. I don't want a remake of a matchmaking system im bored of.

The fact that you are able to boost and derank when the game is long gone. Sure it was a perfect system when Bungie was monitoring it. They get banned straight away. But what happens when the game gets old and no one is monitering it. Pretty much whats happening now. Boosters and derankers every other match.

This is my first account and i have never achieved my 50. Im simply not good enough and i know im not. My highest skill is about 35-40 at most. I know this because i used to play on my friends account before 2009. I never had xbox live before 2009. He hates Halo 3 and i got him to 35 i think. My point is this alone is quite a big flaw. Unless 343 will monitor Halo 4 for ever it needs to change.
