ok, so after the help and suggestions of Master Kim a week ago or so, i decided to save up money for the nVidia GeForce FX5500. yes i know it may not be the best card, but i heard its pretty decent in its performance. i saw one at CompUSA for about $110. im currently in the process of saving up for the 5500 card, but theres one thing that boggles my mind. is my computer able to run the geforce 5500 at its fullest potential? ive put down some of my computer specs so you guys can see if the card is compatible with my computer:

System Model: P4I45Gx_PE (version 1.00)
Processor: Intel Celeron CPU 2.40GHz
248MB RAM
DirectX 9.0c

so is my computer good enough to run the card? yes, i know my computer isnt that good, so feel free to make fun of me ;)

thank you in advance

Hey lpjuunin!

First of all you have more than enough cpu to run the card. But, you would need to check to see if you have a agp slot. that is what a fx5500 runs on. second , how much memory are you running. I sugggest at least 1 gig . It is not a bad card but you may want to check tiger direct. You may be able to get a little better card for a few more bucks. Oh, by the way it's guyz one!!

make sure to up grade your ram at least 512mb. It is the easiest thing in the world to do. just pop opened your case and there should be a slot or 2 or 3?! I recomend you replace the old wiht new and do not mix and match. Ram is cheap you can purchase it for as little as $50.00 . oh, by the way do we have to try out for your clan or what little dude!! let me know.

eh, 50 bucks may not be that much, but i thought there was a way without paying...xD ah, me and my selfish brain...

and no, as i have said you are in the clan automatically, i hate rejecting players just because they couldnt get past the certain kills limit, and plus clans are not only for clan wars and having the best players, its also about interacting with the members with fun events, and letting non-experienced players join, so you can train them to be pro's. and btw, just because im 14, doesnt mean im a little dude!!! lmao (im not mad xD just so you know)

dont buy the fx5500. Its a terrible card. I can produce images faster than that piece of crap. Save your money for a 6600GT. If you buy thye 5500, your just wasting $50 and you'll be upset.

But dude, for him, a guy who uses integrated chips, the graphics will look like he fell into a graphically-enhanced heaven!

But yeah, if you can, save up to buy a 6600.

Btw, I fixed my link.

5500, 6600, whatever, just get a video card! You'll love the new improvement and wonder how you lived without it.

no, you gotta believe me its not much better than integrated at all. I had a 5700 256mb (not the LE version), which is a higher model, and I still had to keep the resolution at 800x600 with mid to low settings. Do your self a favor and safe for a 6600 or 6600GT. Treat yourself to it, you deserve it after playing on integrated graphics.

Really? I can use my 5500 at high settings with 800 x 600.

But maybe it's because I've got 3.20 GHz.

I just upgraded from a Nvidia Geoforce 440 to the 6600. I had no idea of what I was missing in Halo. The game had the texture of an old Roadrunner cartoon with the 440. I had no idea of the amount of detail I was missing. It made Halo all that much more impressive. This card isn't the top of the line but it sure makes a difference.

I have a 5750 and i can run halo all at high settings at 1024x780 with no lag, also i get the shiny effect on the active camo.

no the 5750 sucks too. Check out benchmarks on it, the thing can barely get 20fps. Every single card above that mentioned sucks except for the 7800GS but i guarentee your not gonna spend $300.

If you want to ignore me, probably one of hte few people here that actually knows what theyre talking about, then do it. But my advice is to get no less than a nvidia 6600 GT. Anything less wont be able to handle future games, or for that matter many of todays games. It costs about $150, runs halo at 1280x1024 on high settings, and is a very nice card for the price. Any card less than this is just a waste of money. Its your call, but you wont be disappointed with this.

Ok and LAG does not happen with a videocard. Lag occurs when your connection speed drops resulting in higher ping and stuff. When you "lag" with a videocard its called a drop in FPS (frames per second). Any card that cant get above 30 in halo is just a joke.

No, it can definately handle the 6600GT. It might bottleneck with a 7900GTX but it can definately handle the 6600GT or even 6800GT, and probably even the ultra. Bottlenecking is currently only a problem with the quad sli 7900GTX systems. Its not like celerons cant even compute anything.

^^^Well aren't you something.

6600GT, dude. You can find them for $90 for AGP. Way better than the FX5500. I assume you'll eventually want to play games other than Halo. That 600GT will allow you to play newer games at least decently.

you need air dude.............

i would get more ram if i was you. get at least 512mb if not more, maybe 1GB. i would save up and get either a geforce 6600 or geforce 6800 as they are mid range video cards which will perform very well. i got 512mb of ram and geforce 6200 256mb which sucks, btw. i'm saving up to get a 1GB or 2GB ram so that i can run games and more stuff faster. i am also saving up for another graphics card to replace the one i have now. i might get a 6800 or higher. or i might get an ATI card. not sure though.

the x1600pro and the 9550 are both crappy cards. Dont waste your money on either of those.
