Subject: Something I realized when I play Halo: CE

For some odd reason, I've always been afraid of Halo CE. The Flood scares the livin' -blam!- out of me and those ice levels with the Covenant make me feel like I'm about to die. I own every Halo game and played the hell out of 'em, but for some odd reason when I "try" to play Halo CE I end up saying "pass" because of my fear. I originally had Halo on the mac, but I never got to finish it, but when I got it on the xbox, I finally conquered the game. Probably felt at home with the controller.

Have you had these feeling before and do you think Halo CE will continue that same kind of atmosphere?

:)

I still hate going through the second half of the game because of the Flood - 343GS excluded.

I think Halo CEA will be the same. :)

By the power of truth, I, while living, have conquered the universe.

I always used to force myself to play 343 Guilty Spark, The Library and Keyes when I was younger (and still do now). That paranoia of turning a corner and seeing a horde of Flood charging towards you at all angles really made the game feel awesome, I can't wait to revisit that feeling.

"Where ere thou hast been, here or in yon world manifest? Canst thou tell what is, or what was, or what is to come? No thing shall last. Yet there are some things that will never change. History is written in blood, yet are battles really lost on the battlefield? Canst thou tell me where thou comest, and where thou goest, and what is, or what was, or what will be? For everything remains, AS IT NEVER WAS."

My favorite is still Two Betrayals, but there's always that one Flood form with a rocket. Ever since I first played it I cursed whoever decided to give the Flood rockets.

Yea, it feels like you're in some action horror movie because every corner is a surprise. I hope Halo Anniversary will be able to continue this.

The only thing that scared me was the look on my parents face when I threw a controller at the wall when I got to the end of Halo 2. They were mad!

I Still Have Fear For Halo CE, Especially If You are Playing it On The Computer On Legendary...

Some can come away from reading "War and Peace" thinking it a simple adventure story, while others can read the ingredients on a gum wrapper and unlock the secrets of the universe.

The Silent Cartographer will always be my favorite mission. Flying in over the battle field in the pelican, seeing the hellish fight that await beneath you, then hearing Foehammer yell

Touchdown! HIT IT, MARINES!

...And the bullets and plasma flew through the air.

Didact's Reprisal -
Now is the time of our unworlding
One final effort is all that remains
And I am not afraid
We shall fulfill our promise
We fight for the grace of the Mantle
And this time none of you will be left behind

It used to when I played Halo 1, I'd usually only play up 'till the levels with Flood.

"Shall we let the Flood consume our holy city? Turn High Charity into another of their wretched hives? No enemy has ever withstood our might. The Flood, too, shall fail."

-Prophet of Truth.

Halo CE has much better flood levels because it ACTUALLY feels like your trying to survive against a wave of flood..... Like in the maw there are a couple parts where the flood will bum rush you in the dozens. (Control room where you see the dude get shot by an elite in the beginning of the game, the hallway with the black armor elites and hunters are fighting against the flood with sentinels, etc) In halo 2-3 it felt like you were just fighting small groups of Flood.

Don't worry, you're still your mom's favorite Bnet member.

I miss the days when The Flood intimidated me...

Lol to be honest, I only beat up to the 4th mission. Never finished the campaign after that. I knew that the flood was coming and that they freak the Blam! out of me, but never bothered finishing the 4th mission. Played on easy too...

Then my friend came along and we both had enough courage to finally beat the full campaign. On easy.

Indeed. I really only played the game in depth when I was very young and new to games, so I only ever played on easy; as such, reading this it occurs to me that it would be that much more terrifying on Legendary. (Though I do remember now a friend and I did beat the whole game on Legendary (co-op); we tried to beat the whole series, but gave up 5 minutes into Halo 2.) Because I was on easy, it mostly just seemed boring a repetitive, rather than scary.

More like, we are playing as Master Chief. Do you really think people get into a state of mind where they have nerves of steel?

This is a game, not real life. Ninja's get rid of him.

People. Grow a pair. Your Spartan 117. Now, if you were like the Rookie, and had to play levels with flood on it, it might be different. But your Master Chief. Nuff said. Ninjas, lock topic.

Finish the Fight!

For some odd reason the flood really never scared me that much in any of the Halo games. I don't know why. Other games have scared the living crap out of me and I never got anywhere near the end (Half Life 2). I don't know though, I just never found the flood to be that scary. I guess the only time I ever was kinda scared was when you could hear infection forms but could not see them anywhere.

Old GTs; RebelRobot, Flamedude

Halo CE still fascinates me for the AI battles between Covenant and Flood, Flood and UNSC, Covenant and UNSC etc etc. The 3 way battle between Flood, Covenant and Sentinels in The Maw is still amazing to me.

The Flood was especially tough to fight because they were so tough to take down via melee and their melees in return were so powerful. I foolishly tried to take down Combat Forms with the AR the first time I met them to meet a horrible death, and its the same sort of fear when meeting Hunters for the first time on SC; "They just won't die!!!"

The Library Is One Of The Levels Am Afraid Of...

  • 11.06.2011 12:44 AM PDT

every time i see flood running at me, i have a creeping suspicion that its carrying a rocket launcher or a shotty.

i remember going solo on the library and making the awful mistake of charging at a group of flood down a corridor. one of em just happened to have a rocket launcher and he shot it while he died.and what's worse was that the flood still had rockets after. in two betrayals and the maw, and they used them, unlike in h2 and 3 where a flood holding rockets was a walking weapos cache.

  • 11.06.2011 12:54 AM PDT

well i always hated flood levels actually all of them exceptthe final level on halo 3 that level allways was fun for getting achievements such as anual anyways i hated the flood untilli realized they look like walking poop

Why, yes I do have a state of mind were I have nevers of steel when playing as Master Chief. You don't? Odd.

What's your problem, bro? We're just having a friendly discussion about our opinions on Halo CE.
