I thought since there was a few Bungie members in 343 that it would not change much. Instead they fuse DLC with competive and get rid of a few game types like classic slyer where there are no armor abilities and you play on remade maps. I liked that map since it had many remade maps from Halo CE - Halo 3.
I sucks that they did this.

  • 11.06.2011 2:02 AM PDT

Maybe to make room for future updates and/or because the playlists weren't played enough?

please work on your spelling.

Also some gametypes had to be removed so they can introduce the Anniversary gametypes.

microsoft's fault for making bungie milk the Halo franchise by releasing games every year instead of the "1-game-every-3-years-method Bungie used to abide by.

Therefore after the transition of bungie-343 ; there were eventually changes and additional options for gameplay for Reach.

MY OPINION: Bungie left Reach in at a bad time.
I see it as 343 is trying to bring back the old fanbase with re-introducing the 'Classic gameplay' options for MM&Customs.

I give credit for 343 attempting the best they can to make Halo more 'original' and 'competitive', but sometimes I don't see them expressing it in the right areas that satisfy the players.

I may infact be a troll according to the reach forums ; but I could care less about what their opinions are on people over the internet. Atleast I can just be honest about why I have these opinions. I respect others' opinions regardless.

Halo will never die. It may get slow, but it's way too popular to die.

Thats what I am hoping for and for more than 20 years of halo more of as long as they keep coming up with ideas for it.

'Halo' could be finished for crammming in games every year now.
Since games are being made within less time periods, the chance of the game having potential deminish.

"Loyal Players" have stayed on Reach or even players who like Reach for being well, "Reach."

But Multiplayer-based fans who do not like the changes are either one of 3 options:

- Playing Halo CE (likely PC/Rarely ever System Link.)

- Playing Halo 2 Via XLink Kai (Population: est. 400 players avg.) or Windows Vista PC. (population varies often usually just under 50 but could be between 20-80.)

- Or most likely Halo 3 Matchmaking, since it still exists via Xbox Live. (population est. a steady: 15,000 during its peak.)

I don't think Cod will be taking over however. there has always been fans of Cod games, but in today's industry there's more competition. EX: Battlefield 3. If the Battlefield franchise never existed Cod would make a lot more money in sales since the competition would be significantly less.

However Cod does well in sales, not to say they would neccessarily "take over."

I don't like any CoD game after CoD4 but it has for the most part taken over. Halo 4 is set to have a huge marketing budget and like you said Battlefield also provided competition too.

So really we have 3 big titles now. CoD, Battlefield and Halo with CoD being to current leader at this time.

Once again totally my opinion: Halo has already turned into cod. With games (knock-offs, mind you) now being released every year.

This is why the Reach forum users call me a troll:

I don't know why people on these forums insult cod players when our multiplayer has already dumbed-down to their level.

Things I honestly don't understand is:

-Why do we need Bloom Mechanics when we already have Overshields that make the kill times fair? adding bloom slows it down considerably.

-Why do precisionary weapons have bloom/bullet magnetism? In combat evolved the assault rifle had bullet magnetism but that wasn't hurting anything. precisionary weapons are meant for 100% accuracy. why would you have a gun that was designed for 100% accuracy and attach bloom on it? I still don't get it and the thought still eats away at me.

ohhh... that's why nobody on the Reach forum likes me.

I use logic.

Don't get me wrong. Bloom is a great feature, but it doesn't work well with the current shield system nor does it work well on precisionary weapons. (automatic weapons are fine since it gives the spray-n-pray players more challenge therefore not making them overpowered in any way.) shields would have to be reduced to quicken gameplay to be more efficient for bloom. but other sandbox weapons would be imbalanced.

And don't dare ask me about the CE Pistol being a precisionary weapon. While the gun had a scope, making it precisonary, it also fired automatically when holding down the trigger, therefore making it a hybrid weapon. A unique feature it had.

Yet people on these forums troll me for my honest input. I don't know why you guys say the flood forum is so bad. claiming that it's more troll-infested. I've seen more trolls in this forum than anywhere.

What really upsets me is the rank system in this game.

1-50 was a not a perfect rank system...
But it was far better quality than Reaches. (disregarding the re-rankers/boosters.)

But atleast the system was based on skill, not total time played.

what people need to realize is that bungie left and 343 doesn't care much about reach considering Halo 4 is about to be their main focus of developement, if it is not already.

343 needs to go back to certain aspects of what "Halo" really was, atleast according to rank system. (but they should find an alternative to decending ranks per every loss/quit/boot, instead make you the same rank with an alternative punishment. and be more strict on boosting."

When they find that then Ta-Da! a rank system with no flaws.

Will it be easy? doubt it.

would it be nice? yes, considering there will actually be a purpose for wanting to win games.

The Halo 3 Rank System (except for de-ranking/Boosting) gave players more "motive" and more "thrive" to "rank-up"

And yet with the current Reach System, people on these forums still ask why players complain on these forums everyday that:

"the skill gap is so small / TrueSkill is non-existent."
"rank means nothing in this game."
"I get paired up with bad kids every game and I went +20 k/d"
"I quit reach / this game just isn't Halo."
"MM Afker's / Omg I'm Tired of All These Clans.

It's just sad the fact that all of the above is true.
really.. just think about that for a minute.

Those are all of the effects because of how unproffessional our current rank system is.

343i is the old Bungie employees. You know, the ones which brought you decent games like Halo 2 and 3.

The probably did this because Reach has terrible population and can't handle 20 playlists.

343i made Reach slightly better anyway. Bungie produced this crap so blame them.

You know you can count the ex Bungie employees with one hand right?

5 people didn't make Halo 2 and Halo 3 great, the whole team did. Now with this in mind 343i has A LOT of talent from all over the video game industry, they even have a NASA rocket engineer/ex id employee working on their engine.

I blame mostly microsoft for forcing bungie to make annual game releases. However I will give bungie their share of the blame.

I don't blame 343 for anything. Maybe some criticism about CE:A Multiplayer but they're trying in their best efforts to save the franchise. but if they keep going down the road with annual releases (assuming the results are all similar to Reach)... the franchise just wouln't live up to its own name anymore if it continues.

I don't believe this was all Microsofts influence. Look at previous titles, they were focused around the classic Halo experienced at its core.

The similarities in Reach and classic gameplay come down to you being a spartan and playing a game thats called Halo. Thats it.

Personally, I think Bungie played a massive part in the decision to milk the game. Why? Because it was their last Halo game in which the series had become huge over the years, they saw it as a massive opportunity to make a huge profit from this last game. So they tried to appeal to as many different audiences as they could.

Where was the thought for the competitive community? You can't say arena because the system is flawed and the fundamental gameplay elements are broken.

Reach focused more on customization of character and making a more seemingly "realistic" experience for the player. Sounds a lot like CoD to me. What better way to make a huge profit by tricking Halo fans into buying it and getting CoD players to buy it too. They had three years to work on Reach, didn't look like they thought about their true fans in this game. (Which is half the reason absolutely nobody plays it).

What was the pop on black ops today? Umm around 900,000
And Reach? About 100,000 and below.
This games seems to be doing well.

Money make$ the world go around.
