How is Halo CE doing on the PC? I'm considering buying it. How easy is it to find matches?

:)

Haven't played in a while, but I think the population is still decent.

It's worth getting - if only because of how cheap it is.

400-1000 people at any time during the day.

You browse servers, no console-kid friendly matchmaking.

Matchmaking sucks unless you want a quick game...Server Browser is far superior in nearly every aspect. Why the consoles insist on using matchmaking is beyond me.

I meant find good matches on the server browser, I have Halo 2 for PC, I get how the whole thing works.

Yeah. That's right. I don't have a 50 in H3. I never got Onyx in Reach. If a game sucks too much, I won't even bother trying for such trivial "accolades". Besides, I've done way more things that take far more skill and talent than anything that can be done in a video game.

Depends on what you'd call "good matches." Hardly any of those in 1.09 anymore. You can find em eventually, but it's by no means a fast process.

A word of advice though; If you use a controller and want to play HPC, put the controller down. You won't find any of that noob-friendly aim assist in HPC, and you'll quickly find yourself being dominated by even the most mediocre players unless you put the sticks down and learn to aim.

being decent with a controller is possible, but i believe only if you're good with m/kb already. if you have a decent technique and know how to lead. very few would be able to compete at a competitive level, i only know of one or two ever. but being better than most in pubs is very possible, i've done it. it really does suck though, only do it for a challenge.

Also the AR is actually good in CQB now and no longer a glorified baseball bat.

Meh, I played with the controller sometimes and I didn't have *that* much difficulty with it. I agree that it helps to play with m/kb first to get the hang of the lag and leading your shot and stuff.

I really ought to find my disk and key again and reinstall. There's just something special about HPC MP that you don't get from H2. H3, or Reach on Xbox.

Oh cool, another irrelevant tangent about aim-assist. And an earlier comment from Omega regarding matchmaking that didn't pertain to the current subject. Great.

Listing the differences would take too much time; rest assured, you are wrong.

How are the pings in HALO PC? I tried the trial and I found a few decent servers that I pinged good to, but everyone on them had pings 150+. Literally every server, the opponents all had pings of 150+, sometimes all the pings were 250+ for my opponents while I had a ping of 60. I found these players really jumpy with such high pings and extremely hard to shoot. I play from eastern USA, can I expect opponents with respectable pings in the full version?

I live in the Eastern United States and I get relatively nice pings. It all depends on your Internet speed and ping from your computer to your ISP.

Multiples of 33 with the occasional spot of rounding up. :(

As I've said before, there's no reason for me to post here due to the fact Btcc22 is here. Always has the perfect thing to say... *Sighs in endearment*

I have a fairly good connection and ping great and play lag free in a lot of other games, it's just the Halo trial that was pretty bad for me. I don't think the problem is on my end, as I stated above, I think the problem is with the people in these servers. Here is a perfect example -

http://i.imgur.com/uHcCcl.jpg

I have a fairly good ping there and everyone else has a relatively high ping in the image. This was actually one of the better servers, the rest of the servers were worst, as the pings on those averaged 250+ for my opponents. Finding a low ping server is not a problem for me on the trial, it's finding opponents that have low ping. I think all of these guys are outside of the USA as I usually catch some speaking a foreign language in the chat.

I just don't want to spend money on the game and have it be the same thing as the trial with these laggy opponents.
