I thought this was Rated M for Mature.

Ratings mean nothing any more.

Blame bad parenting.

Halo really shouldn't be rated M. Counting it as one among other games would be like putting a PG-13-rated movie on a stack of R-rated movies.

Reach has been out for a year. Look at the numbers. It's equal to the population of Halo 3 thread years after it's release. That's just sad.
And you don't think the number of suppliers has changed in the past years? You listed some of the competition reach has or will have. And there are more, believe me, there will be new games. But prior, Halo 3 had little to no competition what-so-ever.

All the more reason to make Halo Reach a competitive game, and not a social derpage playground.

Halo 3 had competition but players played it too get better. People just don't care about Reach. I hope 343 gets things right with Halo 4.

Reach is an INSULT to the Halo Franchise.
No. You, and people like you, are an insult to the Halo franchise.

So the competitive community? I'm sorry, but Halo has thrived on competitive gameplay thats actually fair. Not this random BS that Bungie threw into their last game.

I'll remember the Beta, Launch Day, and the forums before release as good memories.

Everything else is are bad memories.

Optimatch wasn't a good memory? :(

All I remember from optimatch is getting trolled

Perspective helps when recalling events, I suppose. That's not the way I remember it.

No. You, and people like you, are an insult to the Halo franchise.

Because 6th place on XBL is totally not an embarrassment to the franchise...

I will first remember Reach based on players that think they're full of themselves in a pointless game.

Simply because they think their rank means something. Little things such as "calling someone bad" or not sending a friend request because "their prestige" is too high. Players that just piss me off.

There is no skill in Reach. Look at the MLG pros. Even at that level of play, there is still some element to randomness - because of bloom. Matchmaking and evaluating "skill" shouldn't have any aspect of randomness. Bungie screwed this up, and now look at the Reach population.

Reach is dead. Reach is an INSULT to the Halo Franchise.

These players that are still playing think they're god, because they are searching with a full party of no lifers. Players just want to play this game to burn off time. It's sad when you have to think highly of yourself in a video, especially one that is failing.

CE Anniversary won't save Reach. it will be just like the Kinect and Wii, it's cool for about a week - then everyone will just go back to normal. There are so many other games out right now that kill Reach.

Battlefield 3
Modern Warfare 3
FIFA 12
Black Ops
Madden 12
Assassins Creed Revelations
Mass Effect 3 - Next Spring

Christmas time this year, Reach will officially be dead. The population is just sad when you compare it to other Halo games. Just watch and learn, you will see the true failure that Halo Reach is.

I will indeed remember Reach.

I will remember it by see lots of hater polls. But yes, Reach has fallen, literaly, because Reach failed to reach the other halo game's standards. it haas been dying ever since.

There's a difference between competitive, and lolcompetitive.

A competitive player would be informing Bungie, or 343 now, politely how to improve their game.

A lolcompetitive player would make threads about how "_____ SUXX" a few times a week and insists that whatever is getting their diapers in a knot should be removed forever.

An important distinction.

Clearly Bungie wasn't ready for the competition that Reach faces today. #6 on Xbox Live? Give me a break. This game is a joke.

The sad thing is that even if you present a change to Bungie/343 in a polite manner, they won't take it seriously since a competitive gamer is part of the minority. You're one guy just stating your opinion basically.

Clearly? Not in the slightest. Today's community only looks at the new and shiny as being "better games".

And if you think population or popularity is an indicator to a better game, then you are mistaken.

I disagree with OP, I will continue to play Reach for years to come, just as I played Halo 3 for 3 years until Reach came out pretty much. I played Halo 2 for 5 or more years. I will Play HCEA for a while.

LOL

So you tell me. What is an accurate indicator that judges online activity and how "good" a game is in todays standards?

So how can I, right now, leave Reach to go play Mass Effect 3?

You can't. But what you CAN do is leave Reach and play the pre-cursor game to get pumped and up to date on that new one. Join new online communities and forums to get the latest intel.

Just like many people have already done. What are all the hardcore CoD players doing right now? Not playing Reach. They're watching live streams and interviews, constantly playing Black Ops right until the release of the new game. You can do the same thing with Mass Effect 2.

Here's the part where I

Blow

Your

Mind.

I'm already replaying through Mass effect/2 and still have time to play Reach.

Let's say you go to a house, knock on the door, and a dog starts barking. Which would you be more intimidated by - the big dog growling at you warningly, or the little yappy thing that's only mildly annoying?

The same rule applies here. Appeal to the majority - the bigger dog - which so happens to be the casual side of the community.

Congrats! You are part of 500,000 players that play both games casually! Hardcore gamers invest days into one single game to get better at it. Thats fine if you want to play them all, you just don't represent the hardcore players of Mass Effect/Cod/Battlefield that I'm talking about.

How do you hardcore a single player game? I mean after beating it on the highest difficulty, what else is there to do?

The same rule applies here. Appeal to the majority - the bigger dog - which so happens to be the casual side of the community.

And this is exactly the reason why the population has dropped. The company must cater to the majority to keep them satisfied. But what you leave is a half of a game left to competitive players to make something up. Which is why Arena is a failure.

You can't make a social game competitive, but you can make a competitive game social. IE - Starcraft II, Halo 2/3, Warcraft, Gears of War, Mortal Combat, Counter Strike, Left 4 Dead, and Call of Duty.

Self-imposed challenges, bro. I won't respect you until you clear every Halo Campaign SLASO without firing a shot or losing any shields. And you have to kill every ally, or move them to where they can't kill for you (not that they could anyway). And you can't be seen by any enemy.

Good luck.

You should talk to Tyrant about that. He makes his own challenges and walkthroughs on insane difficulty for the campaign on all the Halo games. Just an example.
