The 343 forums suck. They're full of retarded kids and mods who got butthurt in the B.net forums for being told that they're bad.

^You actually agree with that retard?

Halo's online multiplayer is not and cannot be a drop-in/drop-out system. The game's playstyle isn't right for it.

MR EOS is not a retard. yadda yadda yadda

No, just take a look at his post history. He is consistently retarded.

My third montage!

As much as I love Battlefield it's one of the more frustrating aspects for me. I hate joining a match that ends two seconds later and it put me on the loosing side.

It would be much better if if the score was visible that way I could choose if I wanted to join or not.

  • 11.10.2011 3:59 PM PDT

it would be cool but it is easier to maintain "good" servers without it

But what's the real issue here? Is it that you're simply on the losing side or is it that you're credited with a loss that you obviously didn't deserve?

I don't think joining a losing team is such a big deal if I'm not going to be subjected to the penalty of the loss. I do have an issue with "Join Active Session in Progress" games which do screw over players by dropping them into a match at the last second only to incur a loss even though you've done nothing to earn that loss. This is why I detail the method I'd like to see taken for a future FPS title with a "Join Active Session in Progress" and why I include changes which are meant to prevent unearned losses or wins, but helps maintain match balance and play-ability.

I doubt people will accept that, no matter how you balance it out or tweak it... I am beginning to think it simply comes down to "it's not Halo."

Me too... which is unfortunate because I know a lot of people who will miss playing Halo simply because of the annoyance caused by that problem alone. I can't say I will be one of them, just because I will always enjoy Halo to some degree regardless, but I know it will not be a heavily played game unless I'm able to enjoy it with a fair amount of my friends.

Honestly it's a little of both. I don't mind a loss if I'm in for say more than half a game. But as I said, it's annoying to join a match only to have it end 10 seconds later. Regardless of what side I'm on.

See for me I'd rather join a match that's just about to end, as long as I'm not going to suffer any consequences such as a loss for doing so, and be in the game lobby ready to go for the next game... verses all the searching and searching and searching that can occur in Halo before putting you into a game... and then of course the issues I have with a player who quits a game.

OK look, this is very simple.

If you want Halo + Join Active Session system, then you're welcome to go pick up Halo CE or H2V for your PC. There's plenty of that.

This system needs to stay the way it is, only because if it changes, then it encourages quitting, and I think we all know 343i/Bungie's stance is on that.

Maybe that stance needs to change. It's a bit antiquated in my opinion. I think if company makes a good game with solid maps, outstanding gameplay and amazing game mechanics then players are less likely to quit.

Another thing, gamers/players in general should get over the idea that if halo uses an idea from another FPS then it's somehow not halo.

I've heard people say Drop-in "Isn't Halo"

I'm not even kidding

3 years and only 1 ban, try harder next time noobs.

I could understand why, having a teammate d/c can break a game that would have been an ez win. I don't care either way.

I know... I know.

Drowsy, of all people, once told me that the only way Jet Packs can be balanced is if the map is a completely flat area.

I was heart broken by him on that day.

What Halo has done to people's intellect.

If you think that was depressing, i once heard a guy say that Halo Reach wasn't a Halo game because the Chopper wasn't in it.

Or that a single-shot rifle isn't "Halo"

Asymmetrical maps are not "Halo"

I have so many fond memories

You're kidding right? Quitting is prevalent regardless... There is hardly a system out there that prevents quitting or even lessens it, if someone wants to quit they will quit. Obviously Bungie's stance on it didn't prevent the issue, their stance has actually caused the issue to become more troublesome to the enjoyment of the game.

I think the real issue of why players quit should be addressed:

The gaming experience not living up to what they want. It's that simple. I quit fewer games in Battlefield that I ever do in Halo. Why? Because I can search by map and gametype.

In BC2 I played Conquest on Oasis almost exclusively. In Halo I have to hope that players vote the same way I do just so I can enjoy a decent map and hopefully a gametype that works well with that map.

Let's face it some [most] the maps in Reach don't really live up to previous titles, that being said, I still maintain that many maps get a bad rep because of the gametypes that are paired with them that don't mesh well at all.

Give players more choices, not less.

  • 11.10.2011 11:13 PM PDT

Halo has penalties for quitting games so if they did the Join Session system and someone enters a game they are losing and they quit out they will get penalized for it. It sounds like a good idea since you won't have to wait long for a game but I don't think it will work.

So remove the penalties. This goes back to my previous statement. Player won't quit if they are having fun. We shouldn't be punished for quitting. [we shouldn't be bribed into playing a game either lolcredits] If halo had a system similar to Battlefields, I.E. the ability to choose by map and/or gametype I truly feel there would be far less quitting as players would have a more satisfying experience over all.
