I see where both sides are coming from. I too have played CE for a long time, and as everyone else says, the magnum is way OP, but that was part of what made CE great. The mechanics of CE, such as bullet lead and all that jazz, forced you to be good with the magnum. You either were good at it, or you died. Bringing it back into Reach though, is frankly a bad idea. Reach was not built with the same ideas and such, so re-introducing the OP pistol just ruins what little balance the game has. It was fine in CE, where the gameplay flows supported it, but in Reach, it's just a disaster that will probably turn more people away than bring them back.
Which is exactly why I'm so conflicted. Reach, CANNOT support any changes made with past Halo's in mind. It doesn't work. But Reach needs to be fixed at the same time.
What I see in the TU Beta hasn't impressed me, and now what's left of Reach's population will be split in two, while Reach still remains unfixed.
You'll have vanilla Reach, which you have the gist of by now with all the bile on the forums. And 343s Reach, which seems like an impostor, still using unfixed things from vanilla Reach with a blend of past halo's that don't mix well together.
Skyrim please deliver me elsewhere.
