So the restrictions we know so far are: no new threads within 24 hours of user creation and no new groups within 2 weeks of user creation. If they are anything different or any new ones you know please say so.
Now the thread restriction seems reasonable. But I wonder whether or not a new user's first impulse is to create a thread or to post. If it is to make a thread, we have a problem.
I don't really understand the restriction on groups. Perhaps in the Halo days it would work so people who want to create clans can't just start creating them from the get-go. They would have to be patient for the 2 weeks and then organize a group. This would prevent groups constantly appearing.

A week of no posting would do new members good.That'd simply drive members away. Restrictions on new members need to encourage participation, not simply block them in the hopes only the enthusiastic will remain. Change it to something like not being able to create topics for three or four months and you're onto something.For 3-4 months?! I think the 1-day restriction is good. A week at most.
