hey guys, ive been wondering...after i download fraps (which i havent yet), i only get the free version right? and the free version only allows for up to 30 seconds of filming. but does fraps restart its filming (as in without me having to minimize my game browser, and restart it myself) from where it left off after the 30 seconds is up? because i see no point in getting the free version of fraps if all youre going to do is record up to 30 seconds. i dont even think you can catch good parts of your gaming in only 30 seconds...

can someone tell me how fraps free version works? thank you in advance =)

Well, if Fraps says it only lets you use 30 seconds per recording, then it only lets you use 30 seconds of recording. That means, as it obviously should imply, that it stops recording after 30 seconds and then you have to hit F9 (which is default) again to record.

That's why it's free. Don't complain about only getting 30 seconds, you're not paying for this. If you want to record more than 30 seconds at a time buy the full version.

No you don't have to minimize anything, just hit the F9(or whatever you set it to) and it will begin recording whatever is on the screen.

oh cool you just have to press the F9 button to start recording again? but three more questions, imagine my 30 seconds were up, and i pressed F9 to start again. does my previous 30 sec recording go away or is it saved? and 2) does running fraps the same time i run a game, especially halo, make the game laggier? especially in multiplayer? and 3) is there some counter on the bottom of the screen while i play halo or something that shows me how many seconds i have left in my 30 seconds recording? so i know when to press F9 instead of counting to 30 while im in an intense scene, like i have the flag, etc. xD

The last previous recording does not go away, it stays in your Fraps folder. Running Fraps in multiplayer does not make it laggier but your fps will go down.

No he needs to pay $37 like I did.

Anyway, Everytime you record it creates a new movie file. But be careful, Fraps records in uncompressed avi format and a typical 30-sec clip is 200 - 300 MB. So you need to have some disk space available if your going to do a lot of recording.

When your recording the FPS number in the corner will turn red. When it stops recording it will turn back to yellow.

If you need a tutorial for compressing movie files go to Putfile.com and they'll give you a nice guide to help you with minimizing your file size.

That's what I meant when I said that one should not complain about only getting thirty seconds per recording- because they are getting it for free.

Yeh Fraps does record in quite large file sizes lol but that's ok i guess.. I have a 240 GIG hard drive so no urgent worries lol..

QUICK none related thing (well kinda related actually..) i need to capture screenies and stuff using Fraps BUT every time i try to use Halo Flycam i get that "Exceptence Data" thingy when i press "Activate" does anybody know why that is? I need to use Fraps to make short movies but i can't do it if that wont work lol..

Many thanks
