So, I just compared IGN's review of Halo Reach, Modern Warfare 3, and Battlefield 3. Reach received a 9.5 while MW3 and BF3 received a 9.0. Discuss.

I tend to find their reviews quite informative. I think the issue with their system is that they review games far too early after release, for they cannot properly determine the replayability of the games. Halo Reach was great for a while, but then it just grew stale...

This brings up the question: Does game rating necessarily determine whether one game is better than another? Discuss.

Don't sweat the petty things, and don't pet the sweaty things.

There's a difference between a game being good and a game being popular. I agree with some critics and disagree with others. The populace at large tends to really like crap. Look at the top 10 bestseller list for books at any given time. Mostly really bad books (or generally not critically acclaimed), but lots of people like them.

Truth, therefore it makes sense why Reach would have a higher critic score, yet less sales. But MW3 has more sales and less critical reception.

So, what you're saying is MW3 has more sales due to the popularity of the franchise not the quality of the game.

Possibly, though it doesn't necessarily have to be so.

Indeed. Perhaps a combination of both.
