We are all going to get banned aren't we?

Since nobody has actually said anything i would like to bring up 3 little things that were in the book and something else.

1. Jul mentions that the covenant mythos for the spartans was that they were dead soldiers brought back from the dead to fight. That is a pretty damn good description since more than half of the spartans were taken by ONI. I am wondering how they would know something not even UNSC soldiers know.

2. Jul constantly relates humans to the kig-yar and even goes far to wonder if we had a distant relative. Which i would find interesting if our races worked together in the past.

3. This isn't a small thing at all but the main issue post-war is that the Engineers have all "disappeared". I am wondering if they "disappeared" because nearly all the ships and high charity are destroyed thus no Engineers or if they mounted up on a ship and left.

I find both to be an interesting story for the universe. If the covenant "domesticated" engineers died off then that would be the first species to be exterminated.

But the idea that the Engineers took it upon themselves to get up and leave would be just as interesting. Ever since contact Harvest With an Engineer going out of its way to befriend a grunt i have wondered if they are breaking forerunner limitations and evolving.

4. I like alot of people wonder what is going on for the drones and lekgolo post-war. Lekgolo should be all over sanghelios since they are loyal to the Sangheili and i can see that spreading to humanity. But they aren't mentioned in the book or other post-war fiction whatsoever.

Drones are absent also which is interesting since they are just as good at fixing things as the engineers. Sure they would be harder to manage but i feel like ONI should be seeking them out more so than engineers.

I dont get how did they "disapeared".
I mean did they leave the galaxy or just stopped obeying others or what ?
How could a whole race disapear ? especially in a year and disobey their creators ?

You mean the washouts?

Only as a means to find Earth, on orders from Truth. They really despise Humans.

Lighter than Some was appalled by the genocide that took place on Harvest by the Brutes. Perhaps the others felt the same way over the years and finally decided to abandon them. Although it was mentioned the Prophets took a lot of them I think.

How though? They utterly despise Humans just like the Sangheili. They won't join Humanity. They will join the Sangheili against Humanity if anything.

They probably despise Humans too. Pretty much everyone in the galaxy views Humans as inferior mongrels so it would probably be a waste of time pursuing what would likely be a dead end. The Huragok are Humanity's best hope as they do not hold petty prejudices.

Nothing was ever said about the Legkolos view on the war other than they would follow the elites. And if half the elites like humans and half don't that would apply to hunters.

Nothing was ever said about them hating or anything like that, other than they do the minimum for the covenant.

They view almost every species as inferior to them. To quote page 141 of the encyclopaedia here they are scornful, arrogant and dismissive of them all, even the Elites and Prophets. They are utterly contemptuous of their foes, which was Humanity for 3 decades. Given that they follow the Elites out of oath, if the Elites decide to exterminate Humanity (which they want to do but only largely lack the ships to do so) then they will follow their lead; without question given that they view Humans with equal contempt.

Grey, the Great Schism was not the end like we thought, it is simply the breather before round 2.

That last sentence was not in the encyclopaedia, just so you know. That is my opinion, but after reading Glasslands I cannot see it evolving any other way now. When, or if, the Sangheili get back on their feet it will probably start again.

The Covenant races needed a common cause to stay together. Previously it was the Great Journey, now it is an utter hatred for Humanity and the stereotype that they are a race of evil, no gooders who constantly cheat and lie their way to supremacy.

all the current psot war dates we have do not point out humanity being at war with anybody. So unless something completely knew is going to come out and erase everything it is just going to be a bitter cold war.

Well, it really is only the Return I think, and the Sangheili are still in their hopeless situation, so it looks like they have not had the chance yet. 6 years after Halo 3 and Sangheili are still willing to torture Humans and steal Forerunner technology from them. We should have saw this coming. I bet something stupid happens like the Sangheili Shipmaster finds a Forerunner shield world that manufactures ships or something and then they use them to attack Humanity, and because Humanity has Forerunner technology they are able to fight them and it all starts again. Thus 343i do not need to take any risks with inventing a new sandbox because they will be able to use one that they know works: The Covenant.

Another ten years of that isn't going to be interesting not to mention non of the races will have the population to fight.

Yeah, it will not be interesting. In fact it will be laughably awful. However, most of the fanbase do not care what it is they are shooting, as long as they are shooting something. Shame but that is the way it is. Majority have the influence even if what they want is utter trash. I mean, 343i completely invented the "Humans are liars" stereotype. Made it up on the spot. Without it, the Sangheili could actually view Humanity with increased dignity, but with it they do not. It is quite a convenient quip because something like that cannot be disproved. "Liars lie, and anything they do to convince you that they are not liars will also be a lie" sort of thing. Every Sangheili character in Glasslands uses it to justify their hatred of Humanity and they honestly believe it. Seems obvious to me that nothing will be over now.

As for population, the Encyclopaedia says that "most, if not all, Covenant Sangheili, including the latest Arbiter, have come from [Sanghelios]". However now we find out that they have colonies, so population has also been changed. They will have enough for another war. 343i just retcon whatever they want when they want you see. They have utterly no standards at all now.

Since when were more than half of the Spartans taken by ONI? If they didn't die from augmentations ONI simply made the crippled ones their analysts. I highly doubt ONI somehow brought Spartans back from the dead. Stop making assumptions.

it has been clear and addressed that no spartans really died from augmentation but were just taken by ONI.

i believe op was referring to the fact that the kids were taken and replaced with clones who died. also how the kids were essentially reborn as the spartan-II's

I think he's talking about Osman. One Spartan who failed Augmentations and got recruited by ONI doesn't mean all of them did.

They don't know anything for sure, it was just a myth that was fabricated, like stories told to scare children. It was also likely talked about to demonstrate that the harsh origins of the Spartans; the Covenant's idea for their origins, a truly sinister origin, wasn't all too far from the sinister truth.

I honestly don't care if you are happy about it or not seeing how that won't change the fact.

With Reach (jorge),bloodlines,TFoR,Glasslands,etc.

It is more clear that all of these "new" spartans are the "washed outs" that "failed" the augmentation process.

I think this was addressed in halesys journal, and another work i can't remember.

So your evidence is an assumption based on new Spartans we haven't seen before? Failing augmentations causes serious physical damage, if ONI could simply fix that they'd have a lot more Spartans.

On the topic of Jul referring to zombie Spartans:

It is true that at least some (I don't think it's been stated ALL) of the Spartan candidates previously crippled by failed augmentation have been revived and rejuvenated, they are Spartans in the regular sense now.

However, are we even sure that's what Jul is referring to? You ask, grey, how the Sangheili could know something that the vast majority of the UNSC (nearly all) didn't know, I am of the opinion that Jul is not referring to the once-crippled Spartans. I think it's more likely that he is talking about how the Covenant soldiers (and most of the UNSC due to propaganda) think that Spartans, however few their number, are un-killable. Even those that are perceived dead are replaced with identical seven foot tall, green-armor clad alien-killing supersoldiers.

If you could show me that Jul is definitely talking about revived Spartan candidates, I will happily concede, I'm not trying to argue here.

EDIT: Tucker, the crippled Spartans being saved is addressed in Halsey's Journal.

ONI can fix them which is where all these new spartans are coming from. Seeing how plans to bring back crippled spartans are over ten years old now.

It's most likely that Jul's thought on the Spartans being the undead is simply based on belief. A belief formed from twenty seven years of conflict.

It's also possible that the Elites/Sangheili thought that way due to their percieved superiority. If they (the Elites) are defeated in battle by humans, then obviously those humans must be super human/undead or something similar, thus preserving the Elites honour and percieved superiority over humanity as an adversary.
