I got banned for 2 weeks for making a forum that said "Lets see how many posts we can get in before the moderators lock this forum! Moderators lock this thread now!"

Took them 1 min. to lock... and ban... I think 2 weeks was a little harsh. I was just havin fun and didn't realize I broke a rule.

Wanting to be a moderator on the internet is something one grows out of. Being or wanting to be one after a certain point is certainly sad. You have to invest quite a bit of time for nothing in return. Especially for a community that revolves around a company that made a few great games.

There are many powers in the world, for good or for evil. Some are greater than I am. Against some I have not yet been measured. But my time is coming.

Our drunk texts during PAX aren't enough?

I'll be sobbing to myself putting bread in Bill's jar in a smoky bar soon enough.

Failure.

OT: There seems to be more mod topics than usual this week. I suppose one could think that extra harsh moderation might have brought this extra scrutiny/attention on. I for one think that people are just bored and are looking for things to gripe about. This might be a valid complaint. I don't know if the mods are harsh, since they don't usually ban me or lock my threads.

I'm one of those storm chasers that will never have a TV show because I don't scream at clouds.

The only comparison I could make would be to the Rock Band forums, and frankly the moderation here seems to be about the same as there (just to a different scale due to the larger number of visitors here).

So no, I don't think they're too harsh.

Maybe it's just because I've been busy and haven't been posting as much, but generally, my experiences with the moderators [thus far] have been positive, informative, and overall bearable.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to brown-nose, but I've yet to have a negative encounter with a moderator [or bungie employee for that matter].

It's fair if your member bar is colored...

because then you get away with practically anything.

That's funny, because according to people with "higher" titles, we treat them unfairly.

Most of the people that say that seem to be complaining for a friend because when one gets banned they all get up in arms in their private groups. If you're a high ranking forum member you get a lot of extra room to break the rules. I've seen everything from someone talking explicitly about hardcore cartoon -blam!- to someone breaking the rules, and then having a moderator (who he was friends with)unban him.

I don't even report anyone anymore since I know it's all up to the moderators personal agenda.

The mods seem fair... I mean, my only ban ever was because I decided to be stupid... And sorry again Foman, for taking part in the dumbassery that occurred in the Flood that day :/

Anyways, yeah, it seems to me they only ban/blacklist when someone TOTALLY has it coming, or is in the wrong place, and then it's usually just a lock unless it's some repeat offense.

I am on teh ninja side of the force here, they're all nice and fair enough... Other than Qbix of course. ;p

Boston Tbag party!

i have been warned by the mod for posting in the wrong forums, sometimes i get confused about what im posting. like i posted what has halo done for you in the bungie community and halo is part of bungie so i think it should be alright to post in that. i know i have made some rong spots but some seem a little unfair at times even tho i havent got into any big problems, i only have with just posting wrong spots.

Typical Waypoint post.
no it's "its got to go" you wouldn't say the "it is got to go" would you?

If I can get banned three hundred times in a span of about 48 hours and still come back, something's wrong.

And I don't believe that you would even consider it to be what was before the word "and".

I probably should have been banned for a lot of the things I posted but I haven't so I'm not complaining.

Chairleg Productions presents: 'Console Wars' and 'Games as Art?' (also on Halo Waypoint).

Obviously in an ideal world, there would be no forum users to speak of and any who slipped through the net would have to communicate using pre-prepared messages.

Really though, I think the truth is that things will never be perfect and some people learn faster than others (or at least, actually care about trying to adhere to rules). The most recent changes to the moderation and rules here means that we can be a lot more consistent and only strike hard where we need to.
