Arena rank means absolutely nothing to me.
A high rank with 100k+ kills and something like 60k+ deaths is a bigger deal IMO. The guy has obviously played the game a ton and whooped ass while doing so.
I get what you're saying, but good players almost never match any form of competition in social.
How true is this though? I see a lot of stuff on this message forum about how truskill does not exist, but I'm really starting to wonder. Take a look at it from my perspective real quick.
I'm an Eclipse with a 1.55 k/d and when I search by myself in something like SWAT I get thrown against high ranked players (in parties especially, whats up with that?) with similar k/d's all the time. These guys have 80-120k+ kills sometimes and half as many deaths.
But get this, my girlfriend (I think she's a General) has only a .85 k/d and when she searches by herself most of the players with or against her are borderline retarded. I'm talking Warrant Officers and Commanders with 2,000 kills to 4,000 deaths.
In the past when we searched together (same screen) she would complain that the competition seemed a lot harder versus when she searched alone, but I would just tell her that it was the split screen effect, it was harder to see people DMR'ing from a distance, etc.
In the last couple of months or so to prove her point there have been times where I've been doing homework or something and watching her play, and she'll tell me to take over for a few games. I've wound up going 30-2 on several occasions.
This game has SOME form of internal ranking system, is what I've concluded, because I *never* see the kind of competition (or lack there of) that she does.
