Subject: MW3 vs. Reach

I played a little of halo and halo 2 and I liked them.
never online but I played em at a friends house, that was fun.
3 was fun too, for a while.

I really like the direction they took with Reach... Idk I'm a minority I guess but I like the AA's. I just think they should have put more thought into how they were used.

Like spawning, if you choose a certain ability you should spawn a certain place. a certain random place of course not just right in the same spot.

yeah i hear ya, and we all have our opinions. i would have to agree that you are in the minority with the armor abilities and the way the were implemented though.

i agree though that it was nice to see some change in the halo series, i just dont think it worked out quite as well as they hoped.

COD's success is continually growing while the halo series has taken a major drop off. alls im saying is that something better be done to at least bring the halo series back a little bit

Fast cars, hot women, and weapons of mass destruction

MOD3 is gonna rule the market for awhile, no way around it.

Well like Armor Lock, it should be a pick up ability at best and it should only last a certain amount of dmg, not time.
like it will be in the future.

and it shouldn't pop off a sticky unless that sticky was a death nade in which case you probably would just stay in armor lock till it explodes.

the jetpacks aren't a big deal in my opinion.
They're easy targets.

And the drop shield if just underutilized in MM.
It's a fun ability that would add a lot to slayer games.

But also, should be set to take a certain amount of dmg.

also, I think sprint and evade should be able to be used continually. not just for a short period of time.

but that's just me.

And the hologram... lol.
it should mimic your movements not just run in a straight line.
like when you spawn it, it should be where your left stick "default" is pointing that it spawns. and so many feet or so.
and it just do what you do.

that would make it more useful in the game.
instead of just a noob trap because when it shows up on radar it's white, not red. >.>

MW2.5 vs. Reach

Fixed.

Also, there's no "contest", they're just two different games.

Modern Warfare 3?

All I see is Modern Warfare 2 with a paint job. Which is what all CoD games are these days.

i'll go ahead and be the devil's advocate here, but arguably, reach was the first major change up in the halo series that moved away from the core mechanics. a good amount of the halo population say that reach doesn't "feel" like the previous halo's that everyone loved... do you think you'd be happy if they just revamped halo CE, 2, or 3 with brand new maps and a brand new campaign with a couple of new features like firefight? i know i would

essentially, the makers of COD know what makes the majority of the population happy. this reason alone is most likely the reason as to why COD feels the same through and through

if it were up to me, i personally think reach would have been more successful if it was a mere "paint job" of halo 2 or halo 3

but then again, this is just my opinion, im surprised as it is that this topic lasted. probably due to the fact that hardly anyone comes on here anymore = /

Not really. Halo 2 was a drastic change from Halo 1 in both the physics department AND adding in dual wielding. Halo 3 added in equipment, and Reach subtracted dual wielding and morphed equipment into Armor Abilities.

Each Halo game has felt different from the previous one. Reach is no exception to the rule.

Stay on topic.

im relating the growth of a major competitor to the halo series, i think its pretty close to staying on topic.

on a side note: the population on this forum has dropped so dramatically, i don't think the moderators are too worried about stuff like this not being posted in the flood. i mean seriously, clan recruitments are allowed to be posted in the reach forum...

I'm not really an Apple person (Bananas forever) but damn, that's kinda sad.

Reach may have it's own broiling ocean of problems, but god is it light-years ahead of MW3.

People have not yet Experienced the type 95 lol

the point i was making was the massive let down of halo reach. potential is only good if you can fulfill it.

you at least know what your getting with this map pack

(keep in mind, im not bashing reach by defending MW3, i personally want halo to do well. i just dont get how such an awesome game could take such a drastic slide)

Reach wasn't a letdown. The sour ass community was. Reach was introducing new aspects that the community therefore declared that it was a failure of a game. Everyone then joined in the circle. Now with the apparent "Savior" of Reach being the title update, It is going to decline community wise faster. 3-4 shot No Bloom pistol ruins the game.

I'm just saying that when I bought Reach, I was buying a New game.

The 343 forums suck. They're full of retarded kids and mods who got butthurt in the B.net forums for being told that they're bad.

MW3 is fun. i dont care how you wanna look at it, its a good game so far.

for starters, i just wanna say the only COD i liked was COD 4. i thought each game that followed that in the COD series sucked. but with the release of MW3, i see myself playing this game a whole lot

OP fails to realize that every game after Call of Duty 3 was the same game.

MW2 & MW3 may be bad, but never compare them to the travesty of Call of Duty 3

Two things:

I am NOT comparing them to Call of Duty 3. I am just saying that every CoD game AFTER it (the first MW to now) are all the same game.

What didn't you like about CoD 3?

I'd make a list, but then that'd be pointless, because it was essentially everything in the game.

blops and WaW were different. but that is for obvious reasons.

i'll try to keep this short. i do understand that COD 4, MW2 and MW3 play largely in the same manner. each of those games have been largely successful as well. now, consider halo 2 and 3. both games played pretty much the same with the same core mechanics as well a few additional features. how successful were those games?

both halo 2 and halo 3 topped the charts for years after the release. I will say halo 2 didnt have that much competition, but still, halo 3 dominated for quite some time.

if you actually read and attempted to comprehend my OP, you would understand that i was trying to say it was a bad idea to alter the major mechanics of the halo series. once this mechanics were messed with, people lost interest or complained reach didnt have that "halo" feel

Major mechanics were not changed; the actual "Core" of "FPS, shield, vehicles, arena-style, weapon pickups....etc" was not changed.

movement speed, jump height, bloom, initial loadouts etc? sorry if those don't qualify as "core" mechanics, it was the best word i could describe em with

Signatures are for little kids.

When Anniversary comes out Reach will be my favorite mutiplayer FPS ever.

I've played every COD up until this one, didn't see any point this year.

Also, I do better in Halo multiplayer than I do in COD and I like science fiction more than 'realistic' type games.
