Subject: When Reach Became Boring

"I like knowing the space between my ears is immeasurable."

Call me a noob or a bad player but I like randomness.

If I run down a hallway with no radar I expect someone else to be doing the same, whatever...

I mean yeah I could camp the whole game and just do runs for power weapons and research the levels to a ridiculous degree but... when I do that, the game ceases to be fun anymore.

The main urk I have with reach, are the players.
Once you reach a certain tier, everyone does the same things; over and over again.

They run for power weapons, camp and expect you to come to them. Whether they have the lead or not.

It just takes all the fun out of the game that I enjoy.

And apparently yeah I'm a whine bag or whatever but I dont' care about stats or any of that crap honestly.
I want to have fun playing a "game" and this game... just isn't fun anymore... It's not the game itself, it's the players trying to hard to develope skills they don't have.

Because most of the time, 1v1 it's the same old story.
Run away, hide and hope not to die.
Not run at you and see what happens, which is fun and anything can happen.

lolReach was never fun, except for the Beta, that was fun

and why was that exactly?
Because it was kinda random and nobody knew when weapons were going to spawn or didn't know the hotspots on levels?

I'm whining like a little brat but honestly.... it's just no fun to be good at this game.
Which I know I could if I wanted to, I just don't want to.

It's boring, and would take up way to much time.

Harass the harassers.

What you are describing appears to be two ends of the spectrum in fighting style. One run and gun,go,find, kill(or die) for me this style of play results in slightly higher kills than I would get on average, but far more deaths(not fun for me).The other end, what you refer to as a camper uses stategic placement on a map for ability to provide cover, wide area of visibilty and funneling opponents into an area that gives the camper the advantage. This will often result in fewer kills but far less deaths than exposing yourself running around in the open.Success with camping dependes on how smart the opponents are,as in the same person attempts to run thru the same area again and again and again in an attempt to dislodge the camper without adjusting his stategy(like a chump).

i just figure the guy would have at least a little guts?
ya know?

It's boring sitting an waiting the whole game if both teams played like that it'd be time limit reached every single game.
Nobody would get any multi kills and things would just drag on till the travesty of a tryhard is over.

I just don't find it fun.
I'd rather run at the guy camping and see if I can get him out of his spot. I don't care how many times I die, if I get him out of his spot, mission successfull to me.

And it usually leads to a lot of lulz so that's about as fun as it gets for me. It's just that over and over and over again, it gets boring always being the aggressive party.

I mean halo doesn't grant style points for aggressiveness so I just have to deal with it I guess.

But I'd rather run and gun and just see what happens.

Camping is effective, but it's just boring to me.
And I hate getting bored.

I'm on the other end of the fence. I like games where everybody knows what to do. Those are usually the most action packed games. Everyone starts on Standoff tossing nades to the other base. Everybody starts Avalanche and Valhalla rushing for the Laser. Everybody starts Rat's Nest going for Rockets. These opening, consistent strategies are the epitome of fast-paced, action packed competitive gameplay. Without these the players don't really have anywhere to go except hunt for kills. That's why you give players something to do for every map.

I understand what you're saying, but I'll have to disagree. If Reach is boring, that definitely is not the reason.

Camping is created by the radar more than anything. In the MLG games, you'll see players constantly moving for position. When games get closer and later in the game you might see it slow down, but the radar is the biggest reason people camp and play slow.

Its a game,it takes no guts,it takes stategy depending on your foe.I have a suggestion for you that might be helpful, the MLG playlist has no motion tracker and it is my understanding that this promotes map movement and it seems that is the playstyle you desire.

most of the time people just say "quit already you dumbass"
when I play MLG so it's not much fun either. :/

but I have fun playing it, well when I finally corner someone and they don't escape behind a wall or have their teammate feign into their silhouette.

that -blam!- is lame because of auto aim ;3

But yeah, most of the time I play MLG people just get all mad and stuff and I don't know why, it's a game and they take it way to seriously.

Its not that. Its just playing aggressive or passive. Deciding which to do just depends on the situation.

*passes cold beer, sits down on imaginary bench of reminiscing*

Damn...remember those old days of The Pit? That map was awesome because there was a lot to compete for, a lot to help you win or to help you turn the tide of a battle. Grab the camo, the rockets or the Sniper/Overshield...

...

I miss awesome games of The Pit.

Tryharder:Noun,tri-hard-er:One who espouses the persona of an accomplished player while not actually possesing the skill of said player,a tryharder attempts to mimic what they beleive is a cool forum personality.Ironicly the tryharder will become a target for all other players as they actually have very few if any beleifs or skills of their own and therefore appear ridiculous and fake.

:/

Why post questions when they don't have a basis?

I'd just rather run into people randomly, instead of always knowing "oh he'll be here and he'll go here and then... yeah"

idk... like I said I'm kinda whining about it but no that's not it.

I'd just really like to be able to shoot someone and have them stand their ground instead of always running away and letting a teammate kill me while I chase after him.

And yeah, Rumble Pit blows.
it's just Team Slayer without the teams.

Otherwise it would be perfect for me. :)
I really hate that you can bring parties into a FFA game. :(
