First off, congratulations on making it through the seven years. Not many people last that long.
As for your points, I find that I'm sadly having to agree with each one. The issues you bring up where prominent when I joined three years ago, and as you said, I'm sure they where prominent a long time before me.
And it is true that much of the quality of content has been degrading. I remember when I first joined how the Flood forum was an enjoyable place to be and hold good discussion. Even then, it was still a mess, but what was happening then doesn't even pale in comparison to what is going on now. I find that I can't even visit the Flood forum anymore.
In general, I don't find myself participating much in the forums. I used to make hundreds of posts a day, but now it's a good week if I make one post.
Though, the one thing I'd like to add, is that, we can sit here and talk about the difficulties and the problems that have been around for years, but at the core, they're really not that big of a deal. The inconveniences and faults of this website never mattered much before. Now we just use them as an excuse. I think the biggest problem with Bungie.net is the separation in users.
When I first joined, new and old users interacted regularly. There where still the little cliques and such, but it wasn't bad. People still interacted with each other. Talked with each other.
Now, you have the new users, and the old users, and there isn't a lot of mingling. The old users avoid the new ones, since they're, well, new. And the new members avoid the old ones, because the older ones don't accept the new ones.
And that's the problem I see. It's not so much the flaws with the website, as it is with the community. Older members should take the time to interact with newer ones. Include them in conversation and help them learn the ropes. The veterans are spending their time reminiscing of the good old days, and they're letting the present slip away.
Maybe I'm crazy, I haven't slept much lately, but I think that the problems are something that the web team isn't going to be able to fix. It's something we need to fix ourselves. And yes, this may be the internet, and one shouldn't hold much faith in others on the internet, but we've still have a chance if people stop living in their own little worlds.
(Still want some group love from the web team though!)
