You are a moron.

Best answer.

I mean really? Every modern Shooter or Strategy have had map packs in some form that cost money. Why is Bungie/343i any different from the rest?

Bungie should consider investing in precipitation gathering nets for these forums. The sheer amount of tears shed by anyone who's been destroyed by armor lock, jet pack, grenades, and the AR could continuously operate hydroelectric dams, irrigate farms, and provide clean drinking water for third world countries.

Does the whining ever stop on Bungie forums?

No, no it doesn't.

bungie holding back the first DLC was wrong ... but they got the taste for that kinda thing when they sold ODST as a full game rather than a H3 add-on.

The new CEA maps are different.
Made by a different team and release by a different company.
This is an initial product release to put money in the bank for 343, money to fund the continued work on H4. Hopefully they will do a good job on both and return Halo back to where it should be.

Do you really think that 343i, a subsidiary of Microsoft, is in such dire need for money, that they even need to release CEA? And to that fact, how much do you think 343 is going to make, once they split the take with Saber Interactive (the new HD skin), and Certain Affinity (The maps themselves) for their work on CEA.

And certainly, more money does not always equal a good game. Reach is a prime example, of course, but then there is Activision.

It's just Bungie trying to circumvent the normal $60 price tag by pathetically half-a$$ing their effort on the multiplayer, releasing an incomplete game, and then charging you $20 to complete it. I'd be shocked if it took Bungie more than a week to come up with all the multiplayer maps. Now if any of you board sycophants disagree with my assessment, feel free to unleash an epic fail and attempt to correct my unassailable facts. Just know this. Who comes out with a map pack 3 months after a game comes out? That's almost as pathetic as Gears 3 coming out with one 1 month after. Welcome to the Nickel and Diming of Video Games my friends.

games are a money grab, life is a time grab, halo is a goody bag.

~Only reply to posts with a question being asked, thats the only way I won't get banned~

Some of us have money that we can spend. No one cares if bungie or 343 want money. If it isn't enjoyable, people won't buy it.

Why not stop by my File Share while you're here?

~Long Live Halo 2
Only regret is I didn't play more of it.

If you haven't noticed by now, I'm sort of a jerk.

Because they're not Halo. Also, people seem to forget the Heroic Map Pack came out 4 months after Halo 3 came out.

Hello, Community!

Hopefully if you're reading this, it's because you're interesting in kicking your campaign experience up a notch by cranking up the Legendary with all skulls activated :-) Need advice? A guide? Maybe even a friendly community to cheer you on and help guide you through the process? Then give our Mythic thread a read, and Godspeed on your Mythic journey!

I think the worst part is that even after buying them, the only chance of using them is if you are sharing a lobby with people who all also have it.

It's a neat little trick and a nice surprise when it happens but that's close to never!

I mean sure there is the Premium Slayer playlist but that sucks because there is so few variations of gametypes per map. I liked Halo 3 when after a while, the packs were intigrated into main playlists and required to play, so you could actually play with what you spent ten bucks on.

Except no one forces you to buy them. If you don't consider them worth the minor investment, then you don't need to purchase them. If, however, you do consider the maps themselves to be worth the amount and find yourself not using them as much as you'd like in matchmaking, you have two options.

1) Get some friends together and enjoy a custom match.

2) If you don't see that many people online on your FL who play Reach, why not revert to the old CE days and have a classic LAN party with friends?

Imagine a triangle. It's perfect, but a little plain. You take a chisel, and carve a small decorative symbol into it to make it a little more interesting. People like it, but it could use a little more.

So you then take a sledgehammer..

OP, please tell the man holding a gun to your head forcing you to buy the map packs to leave the room. He seems to be making you edgy.

So allowing people to only buy the maps instead of buying the Anniversary disc is a bad thing?
That is what I plan to do. I'm just gonna wait for the new maps to hit the marketplace as DLC.

New graphics, achievements, skulls and terminals just doesn't intrigue me enough to buy a game that I bought 10 years ago.
This.

None of the friends play Reach anymore, not with the likes of Skyrim, Battlefield and Batman around. (Who could blame them.)

And just to nit-pick your "options":
1. Custom on Reach for my friends and I usually go on maps that have been heavily forged because if we take the time and effort to create a custom game, why the hell play regular slayer? Boooooring! What with only one of the maps being a "Forge World" variant, none of them stick too well for gatherings.

2. I'm lucky enough to have most of my friends still live around home with me so that we can have LANs a few times a year. People lugging TV's and boxes to my house is something we've been doing for years now and will continue for years more.

On-topic however, it's nothing I have against spent money or the maps themselves and I am aware that not everyone is going to buy them. I was just expressing my own thought on the matter and what not. Silly nonsense is silly, you know?

It's funny because Halo is one of the few series that still does DLC the way it's supposed to be done. All maps are shipped with the disc when it goes gold, then occasionally, additional maps are made and sold later. Reach has been out more than a year and there have been 2 DLC packs. That's hardly extortionate.
