You just did.
But let's look at what she did, shall we?
1. Enchanced Chief's reflexes.
2. Found Halo.
3. Stopped Chief from activating the Halo.
4. Saving Chief from getting infected by the Flood.
5. Telling Chief how to destroy the Autumn.
6. Telling Chief that there was a Longsword in the hanger.
7. Helped Chief navigate the Halo wreakage to retrieve Linda's cryo pod.
8. Helped take control of the Ascendant Justice.
9. Killed numerous Elite hunter-killer teams by venting the atmosphere on the AJ's compartments.
10. Overloaded the generators of the Unyielding Hierophant.
11. Defused the bomb on Cairo Station.
12. Kept the path to Truth's ship stable so Chief could get on.
13. Used the Index to blow up the replacement Halo.
14. Monitored Chief while he was in cryo.
And that's just Cortana.
1. And what difference does that really make? Chief performs just as well in Halo 3, without Cortana for more than half the game, as he did in CE and Halo 2. Having Cortana does not make much difference.
2. So what?
3. And she would have had to stop any of the other Spartans too, or any other human if they had been in Chief's position. Why exactly is it a big deal to you that she stopped Halo from firing after Chief put the Index in?
4. Again, so?
5. I'm pretty sure that Chief could have figured out how to destroy the Autumn himself if need be, or failing that would have found some other way. Cortana's presence is more or less irrelevant to figuring out how to destroy the Autumn.
6. This point, like with most of the ones you're trying to make, I am not seeing how this is at all relevant...
7. And you think Chief couldn't have flown the Longsword to the cryo pod by himself?
8. So what?
9. Not seeing the relevance.
10./11. Couldn't have done either without someone to carry her and place her in the system.
12. I don't remember that :/ I remember her doing all she could to delay the launch of the ship, but I don't remember her doing anything about the route to the ship >_>
13. Again, couldn't have gotten there without someone to carry her and do the leg work, and all in all, the act of what essentially amounts to flipping a switch is not that impressive by itself, especially if you were only carried or guided there. I mean sure, it's great and all, but Cortana didn't really do any of the work, she was carried there and then pretty much just flipped a switch :/
14. And how exactly does this mean anything?
More than half of these don't make any kind of sense at all, what is the point of even bringing them up and why are they supposed to matter?
Are you trying to say that someone can't possibly be the best if they have any kind of help? Because that argument would be absurd. Having help from allies or a team of close friends giving you aid and watching your back does not mean that one individual can't possibly be the best there is, it just means that they have assistance, which is completely necessary. Regardless of how good one individual is, there is only so much one single person, regardless of how good they are, can do on their own. And you should recognize that, which I think you do in part, but it seems to me like you are missing the fact that having assistance does not automatically mean you're not the best.
Here's an example, in the new Captain America movie, there's no question that he's ultimately the best soldier that the U.S. has, but he still has limits and can't do everything on his own. Like for instance when he storms one of the Red Skull's bases to save a whole bunch of Allied forces, he couldn't have gotten into the base if it weren't for Howard Stark, and he probably wouldn't have gotten out again in one piece if the soldiers he saved hadn't banded together and formed a cohesive unit to break their way out of the base.
Or at the climax of the movie when he storms HYDRA's last base, he did very well on his own and did a number on whatever the Red Skull threw at him almost killing Red Skull himself, however the whole mission wouldn't have succeeded if he didn't have back up. Yet despite all help he received, he was still the best fighter and soldier at the disposal of the U.S. military and the rest of the Allies, and receiving help didn't really change that, it just made him far more successful than he was on his own. The same thing goes for Chief or any of the other Spartans one might regard as the best.
