13.72 billion years in the making.

On December 1st, 2012, I met Neil deGrasse Tyson. I shook the man's hand, and even made him laugh. Not much else to do with my life now.

I just can't tell what'll get me warned/banned anymore.

I try to abide the rules, but it's sometimes bothersome when one mod may punish a user, while another mod may not. Some moderators view things differently, which is why I sometimes get my level-of-appropriateness messed up. I do feel I'm getting better, though. For example, my first, I don't know, two bans were for not encouraging discussion in a thread, and I don't receive those anymore.

Every day, before I get off, I constantly think "Did I do anything that'll upset moderators? Did I do anything offensive?"

I get so confused as to what's really "crossing the line" and what isn't.

I know what you feel. Do you ever see that you have a message, and think, "Oh god, is this a ban notice?"

I used to have this. I found that posting a lot less in The Flood alleviated it.

You can't just walk in with a giant banana and expect everything to be peaches.

That is why I don't post in the mains anymore.

Wat paradox?

Getting banned is like an initiation on Bungie.net. If you post on the flood you need to get banned at least once

Meh, the majority of my posts are in the Flood. Not a single ban, even on my main. Which was 2005-2006. I lost my damn account information.
Anyhow, either the mods like me, or I'm too sneaky about it.

Have you seen my mind anywhere? I seem to have lost it...

I have seen you future

My rule is that if I am not sure if I should post something I just hit the cancel button. It has treated me well.

Do what most members who have been here for a while learn to do... Stop posting on the mains.

  • 11.11.2011 11:37 PM PDT

There comes a time in every mans life... and that time is not now.

I used to have that. Then i got banned.

  • 11.11.2011 11:38 PM PDT

Who the hell do you think I am?

Sometimes the mods will lock threads or ban people for pretty ridiculous reasons.

  • 11.12.2011 5:39 AM PDT

What's up with all the -blam!-ing negativity?
Stop it.

It seems as though the ones who do suffer from ban paranoia or have become apathetic to receiving bans are the ones who repetitiously are banned.

Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.

If you do not know by now what responses or posts put you in that category, you either fail to learn or don't care about the consequences.

In a time long past, the armies of the dark came again to the lands of men. Their leaders became known as the fallen lords, and their terrible sorcery was without equal in the west.
In 30 years they reduced the civilized nations into carrion and ash. Until the free city of Madrigal alone defined them. An army gathered there, and a desperate battle was joined against the fallen
Heros were born in the fire and bloodshed of the wars which followed and their names and deeds will never be forgotten

Some people like me have been low balled over stupid stuff other people here do.

Like I guarantee you if I made one of those photoshoped imagines and a stupid thread I would get banned even though like 6 other people did it and didn't get banned.

it sucks becuase I had something I wanted to post.

After last weekends shopped post and subsequent thread, I can partially understand your point. The mods had fun with it, so it stayed open though imo there was no discussion value to it and it should have been stopped rather than being allowed to continue (the whole 'consistency' issue).

But, I also believe that there are some people who have a history and are going to be shut down sooner because of it.

When I grow up, I want to be just like goofenhour.

I can definitely remember times were I was paranoid about being banned, but that was quite a while ago. Moderation on this forum is by far, way harsher than other boards. It sometimes is kind of hypocritical the way mods ban people. In several cases, I've seen mods post spam, -blam!- jokes, and other things that would definitely get anyone other than a mod banned.

It also seems to be the case the way that when they post something, they are doing it in jest. But when it's a user, then it can't be in jest, and it doesn't matter, and they get banned. It really can be up to the moderator. It's what I like to call "pickful moderation".

I understand. I used to be like that a few months ago. Ban after ban. In fact, one month I was issued three bans all in one month.

Just try reading the Forum Rules maybe every other day and try posting a lot less, that is what I did at least.

Hi I'm RT and I like to argue!

If you're about to post something and find yourself wondering if it will get you banned, simply don't post it.

This will completely solve your problem.

Everything is a grey area with these ambiguous rules.

The fact being is that the fate of your thread or ability to post is dependent on a moderator's mood that day.
