That screenie was taken from the Xbox version as a promo for the original version! My you guys get racked up so easily. Actually, it could also be from a Mac, but I doubt it. Take a look at the Health Bars, don't see squares, you see rounded squares. XBOX or MAC. Xbox more likely because MAC sucks lol.

i play halo on a mac, and my health bars look the same as the ones on TMH1988's PC pics.

i don't think you realize that the Mac and PC versions of halo are exact carbon copies except for one thing that i have noticed. where the PC version has white text in the bottom left corner of the screen in MP, like in TMH1988's screens, the mac version has blue text in the top left corner of the screen.

and macs do not suck, BTW, becasue i have one.

Here you will need this to help you get your foot out of the back of your throat, looks llike its in there pretty deep. And what is that on your face? Egg?! *hands Kim a washcloth*

it makes it shiney, adding a specularity layer or two would hardly be more taxing on a system than what is already in halo pc.

Heres some shots that i took with my x800xl. 1280x1024 and settings maxed. enjoy

And no, you dont need 7900GTX's in SLI, or x1900XT's in crossfire to get a good picture. A 6600GT can easily pull of 1280x1024. My card (x800XL) does easily and I get about 70-80fps.

SHOT 1
SHOT 2
SHOT 3
SHOT 4

*cough*show off*cough*

the textures on the AR still arent as good as the pic i posted, plus his specular sucks, and no thats not an XBOX shot thats form the GEARBOX interview, about the game back in 03

no, first of all its horrible quality hosted on putfile. Second of all its not at the full 1280x1024 BMP. Its a 128kb jpeg, that I had to convert from a 3.5mb bmp so obviously it isnt going to look as nice. If you want to see some actual full size screenshots talk to me on aim.

O yea and one more thing, everyones specular at a certain point is going to look the same. The specular produced from a 6600GT will look exactly the same of that from a 7900GTX. What people dont understand is that it doesnt actually enhance the image. It just makes it faster giving higher framerates. So if you have the settings maxed on both cards it will appear exactly the same, only the 7900 will get much higher framerates.

except you cant host bmp's so it basically makes the picture about 10 times worse. Going from a 3.5mb bmp down to a 128kb jpeg isnt going to look very nice.

no you can host bitmap images, they will be lowered in size not res.

Valid file types: gif, jpg, jpeg, png, bmp, swf
Images larger than 1 MB are automatically resized.

taken directly from photobucket.

you could get graphics that decent-looking with a 9-series, or the equivalent FX. Though, to be fair, it's not [i]that[i] good looking. Coming from playing a clanmatch on HDR de_dust with everything whacked up high, that looks ugly.

yea halo is a pretty ugly game compared to otheres that are out there. I think the hdr on de_dust is too bright. I have it on full bloom and everything is just glowing, its actually kinda annoying.

I have an X800XL @ 430, 1100. AMD Athlon 3700+, 1GB OCZ RAM, ASUS A8N SLI Motherboard.

you can easily get some more out of your card. I have mine @ 447, 1120

then again i have an upgraded heatsink on mine.

the 6600GT's are more like 150, and hte x700's are even more.

There are good gaming Macs too, you know. Besides, look closely at that picture. When playing on the Xbox it only uses 640 x 480, am I correct? But this picture has a resolution much higher than that. So it has to have been done on a Mac.

TMH, before I install my GeForce 6600, do you know if there are any better Nvidia cards out there for AGP? And I know you don't need a GeForce 7900 with a SLI motherboard or a Radeon X1900 with Crossfire to enjoy graphics like that, I'm saying imagine how beautiful it would play at higher resolutions with more FPS.

And darthbob, your video isn't working.

Master Kim

There are other otions for agp. in fact, a 6800 gt OC will blow your socks off!! I have been using one fro about a year now and I am playing anything you throw at it at 1600x1200 res. I even can max out far cry! Keep in mind that it is not all GPU it is also memory. These games these days require to play well at least 512mb but run very well at 1.5 g of memory.Just a little food for thought...... LOL

I only have a NVidia 6200 and a gig of RAM and about 512 memory on the graphics card so is that bad?

I wouldn't even know what to set my graphics to so i can max them out although i have noticed a graphics change since i rebuilt my pc with new motherboard, CPU and graphics card the Halo environment seems more "atmospheric" where as before when i walked around a rock the rock just looked part of everythin else as though it was dull and flat but now it's more vibrant and looks more like a solid object..

The AR multipurpose bitmap (the thing that tells the game what is shiny) was taken out of the PC version. That is either from an XBOX, or before the bitmap was taken out. In CE you can put the bitmap back in, but thats CE. The AR's shinyness doesn't have anything to do with the card.

the best agp graphics card is the 7800GS, but that's frankly overkill for Halo PC, the 6600 will still do everything you throw at it.

I'm happy with my 6200 card it gets the job done but i think my processor lets me down.. Having a 2ghz AMD Athlon 64 bit +3000 processor isn't the best in the world but processors are so pricey these days and since i only ever build my pc's i don't go out and buy a whole pc just the parts i need... I'm always trying to upgrade here and there though.

Now lets get on thing straight... I dont know jack squat about the really technical crap that is involved in the way a computer works but I think my image already looks like that. Maybe I was just blessed with a good graphics card. Yay :)

I really don't see anything special about the original image that was posted. I fail to see why anyone is impressed by it.
