I know that people have known about this site for a while, so this might be very, very old, but i felt a need to get the word out in case it's not.

Thoughts?

I am...whimsical today.

I saw this a couple of days ago.

The site seems to have been confirmed a fake by Urk.
So I guess that means that whoever's made it has put some effort into their hoax.

Unless Urk is lying ;)

Please don't hype for games...
They'll just fall short of your expectations and you'll complain for months.

Wait... what are you guys seeing? I'm just seeing a white space.

It's a flash movie, wait about 20 seconds and it should load.

I'm not surprised to hear that this is fake, but could I get a link to where urk confirmed it?

This is exactly as fake today as it was the last five times it was posted. Completely.

Well, not Bungie= not official. The site owner probably doesn't even know what he's trying to fake. In principle, same thing.

not bungie, but an arg maybe.
anyway it could be bungie getting someone else to do it so that they can say they do not own it so how could they be making that site work, and someone else doing it until at the last second when their new game comes out boom, bungie buys the site.

Have you ever noticed that Podophobia entertainment actually owned the "Destiny" and "Be Brave" logo and trademarks. On August 9th those where transferred over to Bungie. Urk said that it was not Bungie before the 9th of August, which was true because Podophobia owned it then. Have you ever noticed that every time it comes up now he never shoots it down? That is because they own the trademarks now and cannot say it isn't theirs.

I've shot it down several times. I don't have time to play whack-a-mole. We're dark, and we don't do countdowns anymore. ;) Also, this comment by him. he didn't say it wasn't them, he just said he shot it down, he wasn't shooting it down.

Makes sense doesn't it.

That site, in particular, is (or was) fake. Podophobia Entertainment is an actual thing; I've never disputed that.

When the site had the timer, that was a hoax. I don't know whether or not Bungie/Podophobia has taken that domain back, though. From the looks of it, it's looking more official than a silly timer that's been used several times over for the fake Aerospace sites.

A WHOIS lookup of the website shows it is registered to Lime Protects, a company that offers a service to hide the real owner from WHOIS searches. In other words, there is no way to know if Bungie (Using as an example) or someone else owns the Podophobia Entertainment website. I don't know why some guy would go through all the work of buying a domain, making a flash movie and get the domain details protected by a professional company would do it just for the fun of it. Unless it was Bungie related.

It's fake. The Destiny symbol in that flash animation isn't even the right shape, it's a shoddy copy.

The site registration hasn't changed since May 23rd, meaning Bungie hasn't taken over it. Urk "shot it down" (i.e. confirmed it was fake) AFTER that date.

Somewhere, someone is chuckling at the number of page views his fake website is getting.

I think this question belongs over on the Halo Waypoint forums, or at least in another thread, but to give you a short answer:

It lets Microsoft upload the maps to the Xbox Live Marketplace early to make sure the files are ready to release on time. Later all they have to do is fix the price to let people access it (since it's impossible to have 4 billion MSP).
