The beta is super awesome. RogueAssassin27 is now the person who got my Totodile's nickname. Hoo-hah! Relevant.inb4lock

You see the Top Forum Topics to your right of the screen there? They are ranked by most saved, going top to bottom, right?

Well why is it that they never seem to budge; especially in The Flood. Like the Slenderman or Random Facts thread. They never die!

So let me ask: when accounts are deleted/deactivated, are their "saved threads" still taken in to toll?

GOGOGO!!!

Stupidity, when sufficiently advanced, is indistinguishable from magic

I think the problem is that once they're up there more people see them and thus they get more saves, so the virtuous circle's never broken.

No, they are listed from most replies, I believe.

Have you seen my mind anywhere? I seem to have lost it...

I have seen you future

I think that some threads get "too big to fail." Look at the titles thread in this forum.

On a side note, I wonder how long the do you like pie thread would be if it wasn't locked?

In a time long past, the armies of the dark came again to the lands of men. Their leaders became known as the fallen lords, and their terrible sorcery was without equal in the west.
In 30 years they reduced the civilized nations into carrion and ash. Until the free city of Madrigal alone defined them. An army gathered there, and a desperate battle was joined against the fallen
Heros were born in the fire and bloodshed of the wars which followed and their names and deeds will never be forgotten

I hate when locked topics are up there.

I agree with you OP. IMO, the Top Forum Topics need to be changed every once in a while. The slender man thread gets about 1 reply a day. It really shouldn't be up there. Same goes for the funny Flood sayings and the "Whats the weirdest thing to happen to you?" thread.

However, there are rarely any "quality" topics that deserve to get up there. The reason those are up is because they are quality topics with lots of room for discussion and little room for flaming.

I was always thinking about a "Save Lock" for threads that are completely useless and others that were locked down due to the OP asking for it.

They are not listed by the number of saves, and I didn't know how anyone had thought of that. Hence my bewildered-ness represented in the former half of my post.

"It's not who I am underneath, but what I do that defines me."

Topics became TFT's due to the number of saves that topic has. They stay there until a newer topic appears and bumps one off. They are like the forum where the newest reply appears up top.

If a TFT is locked and stays there a long time, it's because another topic hasn't "replaced" it yet because that topic isn't very popular. Create a popular topic that people save, and the TFT's will slip off.

I do think there is a better way of doing them, but I'm not sure what that is.

So must a new thread have to beat one of the existing ones like a recordboard, or does it just have to get over a certain threshold and then bumps the oldest one off?

It just has to get over the "hump" (however many saves that is), then it will bump the lowest one off.

So if they won't leave until bumped off, why did blade246's "FIRST!!!" thread in the Crimson forums get bumped off? There's only 2 or 3 TFTs there and, looking at the Septagon TFTs, it is possible to have much more than that.

Not sure. They Web team could have simply reset it.

So whenever a thread get's over the "hump", it is listed at the top and bumps off the next lowest one.

Seems kind of weird. Shouldn't it be a "ranking" system?

It only "bumps" off the bottom one when it reaches the maximum # of TFTs (10).
