Subject: The so called Reach problem

I have seen time and time again on Bnet that many people hate Reach for different reasons. However most if not all of them can't be backed up or are caused by something else that is not Reach's fault. Just name a problem and an argument can probably be given to disprove it.
And I'm talking about the game.

I am...whimsical today.

The Pillar of Autumn's position when the Covenant invaded.
The game says that it was landed on Reach's surface, with Covenant assaulting its position.
The book says it was in space when the Covenant invaded.

What bothers me is people that hate on Halo Reach because they can't stop drooling over Fall of Reach.

I liked The Flood novel even though it took plenty of liberties on Halo CE's storyline. I could branch out even further with the Resident Evil novelizations which I also liked not jiving with the story of the games all the times.

Just because Fall of Reach came out first doesn't make it the definitive version of the story.

Using a shotgun well in a sniper playlist. now that takes skill.

LOL!

I don't have an ego; I just love how awesome I am.

I never even bought Reach. I absolutely despised the beta and it didn't feel like Halo to me. I stuck to H2 Vista and don't regret it in the slightest.

If you are talking about Halo: Reach, why didn't you post this in the Halo: Reach forums?

You can't find a solution to that? It's not even a problem. By the time any of the characters in Reach even so much as mention the PoA it's well after all the parts the ship played in the space battle. The last recorded action of the PoA (picking up Chief from Gamma Station) takes place close 7 AM, and by the time you can actually see it on the ground in Reach it's about 4:30 PM, that's a good nine or so hours, plenty of time for the ship to set down in Aszod and wait for the package. The only "conflict" is when the Autumn left the system, and something as trivial as that is not a big deal, the original departure time has now been retconned.

But it didn't take liberties. It added to it, sure, but it never once stepped on the toes of the game's stories. All it did was show you the in between bits that you can't see from the chief's perspective.

I understand that just because the Novel came out first doesn't mean it's the definitive story. But Bungie wrote the outline for Eric Nylund before he began writing. That outline eventually became the halo Bible. So it's just kind of difficult for a lot of fans to accept one story only to have it changed almost 10 years later.

You can't blame them for "drooling" over Fall of Reach, thanks to the great story, character development, pace, etc.

In fact, what bothers me is people that hate The Fall of Reach because Reach fell in a single day. Let's ignore this awesome novel just because we are too stupid to understand what Reach falling in a single day really meant, we are blind, sorry!

I don't understand why even mention The Flood. Yeah, it took some liberties, like that Grunt and Elite constantly plotting to kill Master Chief. But it never conflicted with the actual events of the game.

It's still a better story, that's for sure.
