"Just like old times..."

Shepard here, I'm in the process of examining the Audio files now.

I have to say it's creepy as hell, I'm going to run through Pilliar of Autumn's terminal recording on multiple speeds to see if I can find anything. I've only just started.

I might have something in an hour or so.

But more importantly is the "grave" for the ship that tunnel you pass through in halo 1?

On what level?

"Just like old times..."

I've examined the WAV extracts in reverse at 75% 50% and 25% speeds; The monitor's voice is yeilding nothing in standard english. There are a number of niggling bits that sound like they might be something, but even looping them has given me nothing thus far. The background music remains largely unchanged by the reversal, although this could be the symmetrical music pattern O'Donnel chose for the pieces and nothing more.

If anyone else is interested in taking a crack at it, I've uploaded a zip folder of the unreversed audio files in .WAV to the following address: http://www.mediafire.com/?2jj7lntobngj38w It is 142.3MB

I regret to report that it's unlikely there's anything hidden in the audio spectrum. I think we should focus more on the symbols and stillframes if anything.

Also, on the subject of AI, it has been stated before by Cortana that the Covenant are imitative, not innovative. In addition, shortly after the fall of harvest, the novel "Fall of Reach" writes that an amateur attempt at hacking occured between a Covenant battlegroup and a UNSC patrol, following which the cold protocol was engaged, etc... Thus it is reasonable to assume that the Covenant copied a UNSC AI pattern and subsequently drove them to near-rampancy through overuse, again supported by Cortana stating it seemed like 'an echo of an echo' and so on.

I don't think so. Isn't that just a forerunner constructed cave?

I could be wrong.....

Is it possible that more of those mysterious ships somehow got to Installation 05 and were then infected by the Flood and turned into a Gravemind?

Also, I doubt I'm right, but what if the sequence of numbers is the date? i'll have to go back and check, but I can't remember for sure.

I don't think so. Graveminds form after a significant amount of Biomass is absorbed, it is only a central intelligence. They existed well before the mysterious ship incident during the Forerunner-Flood wars. Even MB was turned rampant by a gravemind.

If anyone has noticed the terminal access menu on Halo Waypoint, you can put in all the symbols at the end of each video and retrieve it onto Waypoint.

After retrieving all 10 terminals you will unlock an 11th Terminal.

Here it is.

Straight Edge.

Halo 2 Anniversary?

Signatures are for squares.

I absolutely loved every single terminal. What a great experience. I loved how they integrated waypoint and had a hidden 11th terminal, that was awesome.

My only complaint is that if someone hasn't read Cryptum or kept up with the Halo 3 terminals, they'd have like no idea what's going on.

can someone explain what that species owns that crashed ship in a couple of the terminals

I haven't read Cryptum nor do I really recall the H3 Terminals very well (something about an AI and a Librarian...), but I understood the context of what 343 was talking about more than necessarily the people or places. It was delivered very cleverly. It actually introduced each referred character almost as though they'd never been mentioned before, which was great.

I don't know yet, but according to Cryptum, we were their enemy from the beginning lol, so, why not?

I highly doubt this, as Cortana lost the battle against the covenant AI. If it originaly was an UNSC AI, Cortana would have only needed 0.1% of her processor to "win". This made me believe it was a derative of an forerunner AI.

hm... I get what you mean put the cortana that lost was a copy mean to just unlock does and stuff right? I can't remember but at that point i think she got copied several times.

The forerunner concept makes sense but there are flaws.

1. The covenant don't do AI's due to MB betraying the forerunners. yet oddly they have simple shipboard AI's (which could be the UNSC ones). So i guess they wouldn't do Smart AIs.

2. If it was forerunner 343 would have picked up on it no matter how many times it was copied.

This could just be some covenant or UNSC AI that has just been kept up by engineers. If you think about it since the covenant have been groundside on many planets they could have stolen alot of city controlling dumb AI's and re-purposed them.

True, however. If I recall correctly, Cortana copied herself to be at 2 places at once (in that station and in the chief). Then she had to continue copying because she was getting shut out of the system by the covenant AI, then either the covenant upgraded an UNSC version bigtime (because no UNSC AI could ever "beat" Cortana at her own game, Halsey states somewhere that she is the best of the best and knows every single known encryption program ever designed) or it is forerunner or it is something covenant that we don't know about.

I acknowledge my user name is stupid. However, I promise I'm not.

Disclaimer: The latter is a lie.

Keyes was incredible. This is exactly the type of atmosphere I've always wanted to see in a Halo game. Bungie did a magnificent job, and laid amazing foundations for the universe to be built upon, but I really do think 343i will do a better job of fleshing out the story more.

Even with just the terminals, I can really have such a better insight into the characters. Such a brilliant idea for visual terminals to be implemented. Congratulations, 343i.

By the power of truth, I, while living, have conquered the universe.

I'm so confused about this whole Didact business...

On one hand, there's no definitive evidence confirming that he died, in fact he implies in Halo 3's Terminals that he will survive the firing of the array. If he was indeed at the Ark, then he certainly would have.

On the other, I'm seeing a load of arguments now saying he's dead.

:S
