Want to know more about me? Check out my Community Joes interview.

Trying something once will increace your chances of success, because you tried it. Try someting twice, and your chances increase yet again - seeing as you've done it. Try something a few thousand times, and your chances of success is exponentially increased; this increase would likely provide success every time

Today while I was making bread, I began to think about Bungie.Net and its potential future. During the course of my thinking, I thought of a scenario that was highly unlikely; it was a wonderful ponder if I may say so myself.

What if Bungie.Net were completely erased? Forcing us to rebuild - things like: post histories, ban histories, groups, titles, our join dates, and maybe even down to our names. Would you mind if you had to start over?

What about the forum data? If it were to be erased, ten years of conversations would be lost. What impact do you think this would have on The Community?

Personally, I would likely stay and give it a shot; what would be the worst that could happen? I walk away with a few months wasted? I would miss looking back on conversations though, that's something I've always enjoyed. If it were to happen, I think The Community would be able to handle it; those that would stay could even become a stronger Community.

That's a really good theoretical question.

I think I'd be fine with it. It'd be interesting to see what happens and I don't read too many old posts anyway.

Not to mention that it gives more room for people to post great ideas that were overlooked before.

Best opening ever.

ok then....

OT: I would probably be too lazy to remake this.

"I don't care if it's God's own anti-Son of a -blam!- Machine or a giant hula-hoop!"

I like the familiarity 'round here. But if user-names remained unchanged, I'd be down for it.

Depends how bored I was. I'd probably do it though.

That is quite an interesting question. I would not mind too much if we had to start over. I'd probably stay and see how the new community developed. As you said, there's no harm in giving it a go, even if I do eventually leave.

As for the forum data, I would miss it, as, presumably, would many other, but it wouldn't make a great deal of difference. While I would not be able to look back on threads, posts and messages, which I do enjoy doing on occasion, it would allow us to have a fresh start, and it isn't that great a loss.

I think the Community would lose members (those who cannot be bothered to create a new account, and those who simply do not want to start again) but it would still survive, and it would quite possibly become tighter.

Hard is good.

When you type out a really long thread, forget to save it and bnet bloops, do you try again?

  • 11.13.2011 2:39 PM PDT

Oh hey there

Posted by: petarded2
It's a metaphor for the 07s' lack of identity. too old to be newfag, yet too new to be oldfag, we wander b.net in search of a home, forever trying to be something we are not.

Could the community handle it? Sure. Would it be a good thing? No.

Any recognition you had of other users would be lost because few would get their original names back. Groups would have to be restarted. Old hilarious, and informative threads would be lost. I could go on and on.

The negatives far outweigh the positives in my mind, in fact I don't really see any positives.

Like they always say, "You mess with the Helix Nebula, you get the WinyPit82."

Hi there! be sure to click that homepage link!

Nice idea.

The outcome would be very similar to what would happen if this were to happen to newgrounds.com:

A bit of an "Occupy sever providers" moment, then, we would all be back to our normal lives.

That was my slightly serious answer...

If I were to give you my proper full answer, this thread would explode from theoretical paradoxes... :3

Why? Why didn't you just buy some?

Have you ever eaten bread fresh out of the oven?

I'm guessing that's why.

You could just buy a painting, but if you have a brush and some paints then why skip out the fun?

I'd probably stay but I wouldn't like it.

"I will show you how a true Prussian officer fights!"

"And i will show you where the iron crosses grow..."

- "Cross of Iron"

I definitely think that would be interesting. I wouldn't mind it very much but im sure there is quite a good chunk of people that would be bothered by it.

Why not stop by my File Share while you're here?

~Long Live Halo 2
Only regret is I didn't play more of it.

If you haven't noticed by now, I'm sort of a jerk.

If I can have my username not be st3althsniper22, I'd be all for another go.

We miss you Logan.
Ask any question. I'll help with anything on site or off.

I would love to see it start over. I beleave we would have new design, new forum names, and new homepages, that would be just great.

  • 11.13.2011 3:50 PM PDT

I'd stay, but since not many people would do the same, I'd be pretty lonely.

  • 11.13.2011 3:52 PM PDT

Key

I'd be in favor of a total wipe of everything when Destiny is announced/released. Restarting the member titles (allowing us to see what someone was before the restart by hovering over the one they have post restart). Wiping everything in a way that you can't see it unless you have it saved (giving us at least one month of warning to allow us to save everything we want to save), and redoing the organization and design of the forums*.

*I have confidence that the Web Team could totally remake the Forums from an aesthetic (and possibly technical) standpoint and still have it be as functional and amazingly organized as it is now.

I have seen you future

I'd give it a try. That way I could get addicted all over again but with a better username!

Case and point: don't worry about it. Girls start getting boobies pretty soon, and then you'll have plenty of other things to think about. Being an Inheritor is not a life goal.

I'd take the username Achronos before anyone else.

Why take nearly 20 years of history away from one of the best video game fan bases in history?

Pointless.

Got a question, comment, or concern? PM me.

The only reason I'd be okay with it is because I would get an account on the date the website was created/open to the public :D

EDIT: I don't know why you guys would change your names. No one you met here would know who you are.

I've grown quite attached to mine, and it has no semblance of anything.
